Installation and wiring

A WARNING
I
• Do not use this unit on ve hicles except those that are equipped with a
DC12V / DC24V suppl y. This may cause a fire or malfunction.
• Never install orwiretheunitina locationthat will obstructtheoperation of
theairbag.Theairbagmaymalfunction,resultinginafatalaccident.When
installingtheunitina vehiclefitted withairbags,checkthe wo rkprecau-
tionswiththevehiclemanufacturer.
Do not install the unit in a location that ma y interfere with the visibility or
drivingoperation,orinalocationthatmayposeadangertopassengers.This
mayresultinatrafficaccidentorinjury.
After installing and wiring the unit, check that the electrical equipment of
the ve hicle is wo rking properly. W hen the electrical equipment(meters,
brakelamps,etc.)ofthevehicleisusedinanabnormaloperatingcondition,
thismaycauseafireortrafficaccident.
Do not use the unit if it is plugged in ve ry loosely or very firmly into the
accessory socket. The USB car charger of the unit ma y not fit the size of the
accessory socket depending on the ve hicle model, resulting in an electric
shock,shortcircuitorfire.
• Pluginthecablesecurely.lfthecablecannotbepluggedinsecurely,this
mayresultinafireorelectricshockduetopoorcontact.
• Do not place the unit in a place wit hin the reach of infants and children.
The cable may be wo und around the neck of the infant or child by mistake,
causing asphyxiation.
• lnstalland wiretheunitaccordingtotheinstructionmanual.lfnot,thismay
causeafireormalfunction.Carryouttheworkcorrectlyinaccordancewith
the procedure.
• Besuretousetheenclosedpartsorspecifiedparts.Theunitmaybedam-
aged or you ma y not be able to secure it properly, resulting in the unit
gettingdetachedandcausinganaccident,malfunctionorfire.
Makesurethecableisnotsandwichedbythevehiclebody,screws,seatrail
and other moving parts.This maycauseafire,electricshockormalfunction
duetoadisconnectionorshortcircuit.
Laya ndsecurethecablesoas nottointerfere withtheoperation. W hen
thecableiswoundaroundthesteeringwheel,shiftleverorbrake,thismay
resultinatrafficaccident.
UsetheUSBcarchargerthatisenclosedwiththeunit. When a USBcar
chargerotherthantheonefromtheunitisused,thismayresultinafireor
electric shock.
Plug in the USB car charger fully. If the cable cannot be plugged in securely,
thismayresultinafireorelectricshockduetopoorcontact.
W hen unpluggingtheUSBcarcharger,holdtheplugsecurelytounplug it. If
not,thisma ydamagethecableorresultinafireorelectricshock.
UnplugtheUSBcarchargerafteruseor whenyouarenotgoingtouseit
for a long time. Depending on the vehicle model, the power supply of the
accessorysocketmaynotbeturned offeveniftheengineisturnedoff.This
maycauseafireorthebatterytoheatup.
• CleantheUSBcarchargerregularly.WhenduststickstotheUSBcarcharger,
thismayresultinafire.
• Do not insert or remove the USB car charger with wet hands. This may result
in an electric shock.

• Do not install the unit in a place where it ma y be splashed by water, or where
thereisalotofmoistureandoil.Whenwater,oilfumes,etc.getinsidethe
unit,thisma yresultinfumingorafireormalfunction.
• Donotinstalltheunitina location exposedtodirectsunlightorhotairfrom
aheater.Theinternaltemperatureoftheunitmayrise,resultinginafireor
malfunction.
• Be careful with the handling of the cable. Do not damage the cable, pull,
bend,twistormodifythecable unreasonably, putheavyobjectsonit,orlay
itnearthermaldevices.Thismayresultinafire,electricshockormalfunction
duetoadisconnectionorshortcircuit.
Do not block the suction inlet and air outlet of the unit. Heat may build up
insidetheunit, resultinginafireormalfunction.
• Do not install the unit in an unstable location. This ma y result in a traffic
accidentorinjuryduetotheunitfallingdown.
How to use the unit

Do not disassemble, repair or modify the unit. Never disassemble, repair or
modifytheunit,orcutoffthecablesheathingtodrawpowerfromother
devices.Thismayresultinatrafficaccident,fire,electricshockormalfunction.
Do not allow water or foreign matter to get inside the unit. W hen metallic
objectsorfiammable materialsetc.getinsidetheunit,this ma y resultina
fire, fuming, ignition orelectricshockduetoa malfunction or short circuit.
Becarefulnottoletdrinksetc.splashontotheunit.
Do notusetheunitin a faulty or abnormal condition. If foreign matter gets
intotheunit,or waterissplashedontotheunit,orsmoke,abnormalnoises
orodorsappear,stopusingtheunitimmediately. This may resultinanacci-
dent,fireorelectricshock.
• The driver should not operate the unit or look at the images and displays
whiledriving.Alwaysstopthe ve hicleinasafeplaceand use the unit with
the side brake engaged. lfnot, this may result in a trafficaccident.
• W henyouhearthunder,donottouchthecableandtheunit.Thismayresult
inanelectricshockduetoalightningstrike.

malfunction.
• Do not use or leave the unit in a place that is exposed to high temperature
andhumiditye.g.nearafire,stoveorbathroom.Thismayresultinoverheat-
ing,fi reorcracks.
• Beforeuse,checkforanycigaretteresidueordustinsidetheaccessorysocket.
lfthereisanyforeignsubsta nceinside,thismay resultinpoorconductivity,
causingoverheating,fireorinjury.
• Check each connection before use. Do not use the unit ifit is stained with
dustetc.,oriftheconnectors, connection terminals, etc.are deformed or
damaged.Thismayresultinashortcircuitorfire.
W hentheunitisinoperation withthe ve hiclekeyp ulled out or with the
engine switch turned off, pull out the connector from the USB port. If not,
thismaycauseafireorthebatterytoheatup.

Troubleshooting guide
Power cannot be turned on (('.)indicator does not light).
•ConnecttheUSB-DCcableallthewayandfirmly.
•lnserttheUSBcarchargertotheaccessorysocketwiththe
engine running.
Not enough air is output./ The unit emits a bad smell.
Theunitorfilterisdirty.Replacethefilter witha new one.

The operation does not stop although the engine of
vehicle is switched OFF./The unit does not operate in
conjunction with engine.
lna vehicle wherethepoweris suppliedtotheaccessorysocket
even iftheengineofvehicle is switched OFF, the engine inter-
lockingfunctioncannotbeused.Topreve ntbatteryrise, remove
theUSBcarchargerfromtheaccessorysocket.
There is a "jee" sound from the unit.
There isa slight sound when ions is taking place. This is not
a malfunction.
There is a abnormal sound from the unit.
Malfunction has occurred onthisunit.Consultyour JVCdealer.
