Hints for Car Lacquer Care

Lacquer Cleaner (contains abrasive ingredients)
A lacquer cleaner should only be used for very weathered lacquered surfaces,
as they contain "coarse" abrasive particles.
Polish (contains abrasive ingredients)
Many different kinds of polish are available on the market, e.g. for newly
lacquered surfaces, for matt finish and "weathered" lacquers, combination
products with hard wax (for protection) are all available.
None of these products should be used too frequently as they contain abrasive
particles, which remove parts of the existing lacquer layer with each use.
The outer lacquer layer of modern cars is only about 0.04 – 0.06 mm thick.
Always work on individual sections when polishing. The best results are
obtained when the polish is first applied to an area of about 1m
foam pad, is then left to settle in for a little while and finally is polished using
the buffing pad.

Cleaning and Storing the Polisher

Use only a moist cloth to clean the housing of the polisher.
Do not immerse the polisher in water.
Do not use aggressive chemicals as benzene or thinner, which may
dissolve plastic parts, or abrasives.
Keep the ventilation openings always clean and free from obstructions.
Clean ventilation openings with a soft paint brush.
Store the polisher in a dry place and protect it from dust and dirt.
Cleaning the Accessories
Wash the buffing pad and the foam pad after each use. Only wash the
bonnets by hand at 40° and allow drying on fresh air.
Do not wash the foam and the buffing pad in the washing machine and do
not dry the pads in the dryer.
Do not squeeze the pads. Only lightly press down the foam pad by hand to
remove remaining water.
