Installation Instructions for Hannoband
Please note the following before handling and processing impregnated multi-functional tapes:
Ensure the correct choice of tape for the specific application and the installation location (see also DIN 4108, part 7)
Correct choice of application group according to DIN 18542 (BG1, BG2, BG-R)
Compatibility must be ensured for adjoining materials
The tape size and width must correspond to the true (max.) width of joint to be sealed. The manufacturer's
specifications regarding temperature related longitudinal variations respectively construction material movements
need to be taken into consideration. The tape width needs to correspond to the window's profile in order to achieve
an almost complete joint sealing.
The expansion behavior of the multi-functional tapes depends on the environment and material temperatures
(eventually store the tapes in a temperature controlled environment before processing) as well as the age of the tapes
We recommend to store tapes at a cool location when temperatures exceed 20 °C (70 °F) at the construction site.
It is recommended to warm up the tapes at lower temperatures. The complete expansion of Hannoband
take up to 48 hours after installation. This time can be longer when temperatures are low. Therefore, the tightness
of the tape should only be checked four weeks after its professional installation.
Cut off 2 cm (ca. 1") at both ends of the tape
Preparation of joint/substrate: The substrate/pressure area should be as level as possible and cleaned (e.g.
plaster leftovers to be removed completely). The joint flanks should run as parallel as possible (in some cases a re-plaster-
ing or re-profiling of the joints in older buildings could be necessary). The specified tape widths should not be exceeded
or undercut, which also applies to use on uneven surface areas.
Installation: Remove approx. 20 cm of the liner. Adhere the tape to the frame with an excess length (add lower joint
width dimension). Cut off the tape with excessive length (upper joint width) in the top corner. Butt-joint the remaining
tape in the corner by applying pressure. When reaching the end of the roll, form a butt joint and cut off the last and first
2 cm (ca. 1"). If necessary, fill in cross joints/breakouts with a suitable sealant (e.g. Hanno
Corners: To avoid leaky joints, never lay the multifunctional tape around corners but apply as shown in the diagram.
Patching: Press the tape ends slightly against each other. Do not bevel and never overlap tapes.
Varying joint widths: When joint widths vary greatly use different tape sizes. Never overlap the ends. Insert the
window frame in the wall opening together with the adhered Hannoband
with the standard load-bearing space mounting screws.
Bottom connecting joint: To seal the bottom joint, we primarily recommend the use of Hanno
or Hanno
-Flashing Tape DUO Easy for inside and outside. A permanent wedging is to be carried out in order to transfer

the loads to the bottom structure. As an alternative, the bottom connection can be created with Hannoband
tape dimension has to match the window sill profile and the joint width. The installation procedure is the same as for
Hannoband
-3E. Imperfections at the transition to the vertical tapes on both sides need to be evened with a suitable

sealing compound. A permanent load transfer to the structure has to be ensured by selecting suitable fastening materials.
Storage: The shelf life depends on the product – refer to technical data sheets. Store in the original packaging in a cool
and dry place at temperatures between +5 and +25 °C (+40 and +80 °F).
