5.1 PCIe sound card

Intended use
The product is designed to be installed in a computer PCIe slot, where it provides inputs
and outputs for analogue audio signals (line level). Furthermore, the sound card has a digital
(optical) audio output.
The safety instructions must be observed at all times!
Any use other than that described above could lead to damage to this product and involves
risks such as short circuits, fire, electric shock, etc. No part of the product may be modified
or converted!

Installation
If you do not have the expertise to perform the installation, please arrange for the
installation to be carried out by an expert or a suitable specialist shop!
Improper installation will damage the sound card, your computer and all con-
nected devices.
Switch off the computer in which the sound card is to be installed and all con-
nected devices. Isolate all devices from mains voltage by pulling out the mains
power plug! Just turning off at the on/off switch is not enough!

• Open your computer's housing and carefully remove the cover.
To install the sound card in a flat computer casing, a low-profile slot bracket is
provided. Remove the long slot bracket (4) from the sound card and then mount
the low-profile slot bracket.
• Locate a free PCIe slot (x1....x16), remove the respective slot cover and insert the PCIe
card into the slot. Screw on the sound card firmly (unless the computer case you use
provides an option of a screwless installation).
• You will find a pin strip on the sound card (5). Here the audio connector plug of your com-
puter housing (HD audio compatible) is inserted. One pin of the pin strip is missing, so the
plug can be inserted properly.
If necessary, secure the cable with cable ties so it cannot obstruct the fan in your computer.
• Close the computer housing.
• Plug the supplied adapter cable into the corresponding mini-DIN socket (2) of the sound
card; observe correct orientation.
• Connect your computer and monitor to the mains voltage and switch on all of the devices.
• If your computer does not start correctly, switch it off immediately and check all the set-
tings and cable connections.
Before opening the computer again, it must be disconnected from the mains volt-
age, see above!
Driver installation
Windows detects the plug-in card automatically. Cancel the automatic search for drivers or
the hardware recognition.
Insert the enclosed CD into the corresponding drive on your computer.
If the installation does not start automatically, open the CD main directory using e.g. the
Windows file manager. Start the installation programme "Autorun.exe" by double click.
Click "Install Driver" and follow all instructions of the installation programme and/or Win-
dows.
After the driver has been installed, a restart may be necessary before the sound card can
work correctly.
Connection
For playback via respective analogue outputs, an appropriate audio signal is nec-
essary and also software that can play this signal (e.g. DVD player software).

The "Line-In" connector of the plug-in card serves as an audio input; connect it e.g. with the
analogue audio output of an MP3 player.
A digital optical audio signal is delivered to the "Digital Out" connector. Connect this socket
using an appropriate optical cable with the corresponding input of e.g. an amplifier.
Disposal
The product must not be disposed of with the household waste.
Please dispose of the product, when it is no longer of use, according to the cur-
rent statutory requirements.
