1. Application
Waterproof wall bushings can be used as pressurised-water-tight bushings (tight against standing water) for
walls up to a depth of max. 10 m (
1bar), e.g. for connecting the ring earth electrode to the equipotential bonding
conductor in the foundation of a white tank or to the main earthing busbar (main earthing busbar/ main
equipotential bonding bar) in waterproof concrete.
The water barrier installed on the wall bushing prevents the penetration of water (humidity) into the concrete
wall (see Figure 1).
The preset position of the water barrier must not be changed.
Waterproof wall bushings are installed during formwork work (see Figure 3).
The yellow flange cover serves as mechanical protection of the threaded hole of the relevant connecting plate. If
the flange cover is attached, the integrated O-ring prevents pollution of the threaded hole, e.g. due to liquid
concrete.
Wall bushings come equipped with an bilateral integrated two-start thread (M10 and M12). A hexagon bolt
can be inserted into the two-start thread:
- M 10; length of thread max. 40 mm or
- M 12; length of thread max. 20 mm
in order to contact a terminal (see Figure 2).
2. Installation
When insatlling waterproof wall bushings, the following instructions have to be followed:
a) Position the wall bushing (connecting plate 1) at the desired location between the formwork
and nail it into the formwork (stainless steel nails recommended - rust) (see Figure 3).
Attention: For functional reasons, connecting plate 1 with water barrier 3 always has to be installed at
the side of the outer wall (see Figure 3).
b) The adjusting range (max. 50 mm) is set by turning the hexagon head bolt attached to connecting
plate 2 in clockwise/anticlockwise direction and is fixed by means of thightening the nut
(see Figure 2).
If required, the connection axis can be shortened on site (ensure that thread is not damaged!).
When adjusting the bushing to the wall thickness, it has to be ensured that it protrudes approx.
5 mm so that pressure is applied to the wall bushing when erecting the second formwork
(inner wall) Thus, the wall bushing is additionally fixed and visible after concreting.
c) Terminal 4 (St/tZn) with square hole (11 x 11 mm) for the connection via clamping frame,
Part No. 390 150 for round conductors or cross unit for tape conductors (see Figure 3).
d) Continue reinforcement and concrete work as usual.
3. Connection to the fixed earthing terminal
a) Remove the plastic cover (connection to the thread).
b) Unscrew the hexagon bolt from the threaded hole (two-start thread M 10, M 12) of connecting
plate 1 and 2 (see Figure 2).
4. Possible connections
Figure 4 shows a possible connection using a terminal with threaded bolt 5, Part No. 478 129, clamping
range Rd 8-10 mm, Fl 30 mm.
5. Safety instructions
Please note that the wall bushing has to be kept clean (dust-free, free of grease, e.g. release lube). For
functional reasons it is important that the bushing is enclosed in concrete (no air inclusion).
The preset position of the water barrier must not be changed.
