Intended use
The product is used to switch off the power supply of a connected consumer device. The
protective socket on the product is designed for connecting electrical devices. The socket on
the device is protected by enhanced contact protection. It is used to switch off, e.g. electric coo-
kers, coffee machines, interior lighting or fans. The built-in clock switches off the power to the
protective socket after the set period of time. The product is powered via the mains connection.
The power supply of the product is 230 V/AC, 50 Hz. The maximum connected load must not
exceed230V/AC,15A.Refertothespecificationsinthe'Technicaldata'section.
This product is intended for indoor use only. Do not use it outdoors. Contact with moisture
(e.g. in a bathroom) must be avoided under all circumstances.
For safety and approval purposes, do not rebuild and/or modify this product. Using the product
for purposes other than those described above may damage the product. In addition, impro-
perusecancausehazardssuchasashort-circuit,fireorelectricshock.Readtheoperating
instructions carefully and store them in a safe place. Only make this product available to third
parties together with its operating instructions.

Description of symbols

Read the operating instructions carefully and the safety information in par-
ticular. If you do not follow the safety information and information on proper
handling in these operating instructions, we will assume no liability for any
resulting personal injury or damage to property. Such cases will invalidate the
warranty/guarantee.
a) General information
• The device is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
• Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. It may become
a dangerous plaything for children.
• Protect the product from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, strong vibrations,
high humidity, moisture, combustible gases, vapours and solvents.
• Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.
• If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, stop using it and prevent
unauthorised use. Safe operation can no longer be guaranteed if the product:
- is visibly damaged,
- is no longer working properly,
- has been stored for extended periods in adverse ambient conditions or
- has been subjected to any serious transport-related stress.
• Handle the product with care. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a low height may
damage the product.
• Consult a technician if you are not sure how to use or connect the product, or if
you have concerns about safety.

a specialist repair centre.

b) Connected devices
• Always observe the safety information and operating instructions of any other
devices which are connected to the product.
c) Electrical safety
• Before connecting the product to the mains, ensure that your local AC mains
voltagematchesthespecificationsonthenameplate.
• The product's mains socket is designed to protection class I. Only use an earthed
mains socket (230 V/AC, 50 Hz) connected to the public grid to power the product.
• The mains socket must be located near to the device and be easily accessible.
• Always use the grips on the side of the plug to unplug the adapter from the mains
socket.
• Unplug the mains plug from the mains socket if you do not plan to use the product
for an extended period of time.
• For safety reasons, disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket during
thunderstorms.
• Never connect or disconnect power plugs when your hands are wet.
• Plug the earthed mains plug on the back of the product directly e.g. into a wall
socket. Do not use an extension.
• Do not connect the product in series! This can lead to an overload, Fire hazard!
• Dead only when unplugged!
• The timer switch must not be used outdoors in the open air.
•  N everpouranyliquidsoverelectricaldevicesorputobjectsfilledwithliquidnext
to the device. If liquid or an object does enter the interior of the device, switch the
power supply off (e.g. switch off the circuit breaker). Discontinue use and take the
product to a specialist repair centre.
• Never use the product immediately after it has been taken from a cold room into to
a warm one. This may cause condensation to form, which can destroy the product.
Allow the product to reach room temperature before connecting it and putting it
into use. This may take several hours.
d) Persons and product
• For installations in industrial facilities, follow the accident prevention regulations
for electrical systems and equipment issued by the national safety organisation or
the corresponding national authority.
• Live components may be exposed if the covering is opened or components are
removed. Never open the product.
• Connection points may also be live. Before servicing or repair work is carried out
or components or assemblies are replaced, the product must be disconnected
from the mains. Maintenance or repair work on the product may only be carried
out by specialist personnel who are familiar with the hazards involved and with the
relevant regulations (VDE).
• The voltage supply of the timer switch is 230 V/AC 50 Hz.

Operation

• Insert the plug of the timer switch into an ordinary mains socket connected to the public
gridwithavoltageofupto230V/AC50Hz.TheindicatorLEDslightupbrieflyforapprox.
1 second to indicate that the mains voltage is present.
• Press and hold the ON/OFF + button (1) to switch the timer on. The indicator LED on this
button lights up green.
• Press the ON/OFF + button again to set the smallest timer time '10 min'. Press the ON/
OFF + buttonbrieflyuntilthedesiredswitch-offtimeisreached.Thecorrespondingindi-
cator LED lights up. Switch the timer times 20 min/30 min/40 min/50 min/1 h/2 h/4 h/6 h/8
h/10 h/12 h in this order. The indicator LED of the set time interval lights up. To switch the
timer times back, press the minus button - (2) to reduce the set timer time.
• If the timer is set to 12 hours, press the ON/OFF + button (1) to switch timer activation off.
The voltage at the protective socket remains on.
