Solar marking lamps,
set of 2
Item no. 57 80 69
Use in accordance with manufacturer's instructions
The product is an decorative exterior lamp for garden and terrace. The solar light can be used e.g., to mark
pathways at night.
By means of the integrated solar panel the rechargeable battery is charged during the day. The solar lamp
switches on the light automatically when darkness falls, and the integrated rechargeable battery provides the
energy for the light. As illuminant three LEDs (light-emitting diode) are used for every solar lamp. During the
day, the light of the solar lamp switches off automatically.
The solar lamp is designed for private use and not for commercial use. Use of this device in any other way
than as described above is not permitted. All the safety and assembly instructions must be carefully followed!
This product complies with the applicable National and European requirements. All names of companies and
products are the trademarks of the respective owner. All rights reserved.

Safety Instructions
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe these safety
instructions! We do not assume any liability for any consequential damage!
Nor do we assume any liability for material and personal damage caused by improper use
or non-compliance with the safety instructions! In such cases, the warranty will be void!
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modifi cation of the unit is not permitted because of safety and ap-
proval reasons (CE).
• The product must not be exposed to extreme temperatures, strong vibrations or heavy mechanical stress.
Do not run over the solar lamp with vehicles, do not step on it.
• Do not carelessly leave the packaging material lying around since this may become a dangerous toy for
children.
• This product is not a toy, and should be kept out of the reach of children.
• The product is protected against dampness and rain. However, it must not be placed directly into water or
be exposed to extreme moisture. Place it in a way it is not lying in a puddle when it rains. Protect it from
salt water (e.g. in winter), since this leads to corrosion.
• Do not use this product in rooms or under adverse ambient conditions where combustible gases, vapours
or dust are or may be present! There is a risk of explosion!
• Attention, LED light: Do not look directly into the LED light! Do not look into the light directly or with optical
instruments!
• Do not leave packing materials unattended. They may become dangerous playthings for children.
Notes on rechargeable batteries
Each of the two solar lamps has a built-in battery of type NiMH (AAA/Micro). Please observe the following
safety instructions concerning the handling of rechargeable batteries:
• Keep rechargeable batteries out of the reach of children. Do not leave the batteries openly lying around.
There is the danger that children or pets could swallow them, danger to life! If swallowed, consult a doctor
immediately.
• Make sure that the rechargeable batteries are not opened, short-circuited ed or thrown into a fi re. They
could explode.
• Ensure to connect them correctly when inserting/exchanging the batteries (observe plus/+ and minus/-)
• Old or fl at batteries can release chemical liquids, thus damaging the device. Leaking or damaged batteries
may burn the skin if touched. Under these circumstances, protect your hands with suitable gloves.
• Only use batteries of the correct size and the recommended type.
• Only insert rechargeable batteries into the solar lamp, never use normal batteries that cannot be charged.
There is a risk of fi re and explosion!
Mounting and positioning
Choose an appropriate position, e.g. alongside a terrace, a garden path or a fl ower bed.
In order to allow the battery to be charged suffi ciently, the product must be installed in such a way that it
exposes the solar cell to direct sunlight as long as possible. Make sure that the solar cell is not covered or
shaded (e.g. under bushes or trees).
Do not install the solar lamp directly next to other light sources, such as e.g. yard lights, street lights etc. as
otherwise the light of the solar lamp will not light up correctly at night.
The solar light is not suited to being driven on by vehicles. Therefore it must not be placed in driveways. Do
not step on the solar lamp.
By means of the provided ground spikes the two solar lamps can be fi xed at their installation
location. Two ground spikes each can be attached to the bottom at the solar lamps.
Getting Started
www.conrad.com
When fi rst used, the solar light requires about 24 hours of sunlight (in the summer months, accordingly longer

in the other seasons) to charge the installed batteries.
At the bottom of the solar lamp there is a round pressure switch used to turn on and off the solar lamp:
Position "AUTO": The solar lamp is switched on. At low ambient brightness the LED-light switches on
automatically, at normal brightness the LED-light turns off again, and at the respective solar radiation.
Position "OFF": The solar light is turned off, the LEDs will not be activated.
General handling of solar lamps
The performance of the solar light varies according to the season, depending on the duration and strength
of the sunlight.
Long periods without suffi cient sun radiation (especially in winter) can lower the charge state of the battery,
thus not allowing for longer light periods. The battery stores less energy during the day than it consumes at
night. Thus, the lighting duration is inevitably reduced.
This could also mean that the battery runs completely fl at and could be damaged as a result.
Therefore switch the solar lamp off in good time (switch position = OFF).
Cold temperatures also have negative impact on the operating time of the batteries (shorter lighting period
of the LEDs at night).
With respect to a long, trouble-free period of operation, we recommend storing the solar lamp in a dry, warm
room during the winter or when it is not used for a longer period. For this switch off the solar lamp (switch
position = OFF).
Remove the battery when storing the device and e.g. recharge it with an appropriate charger. Observe the
following chapter for removing or exchanging the batteries.
Remove/change battery
A replacement of the battery is only necessary if the duration of lighting during the night is too short despite
suffi cient charge during the day. For safety reasons, the battery is only removeable/changeable with tools
(screwdriver). For this purpose, proceed as follows:
• Unscrew all screws at the bottom to release the bottom cover.
• Remove the NiMH accumulator from its holder. Remember the polarity (pay attention to plus/+ and mi-
nus/-) and the arrangement of the lid, too.
• Insert two new batteries of the same type (NiMH) and of the same capacity (see "Technical Data") with the
correct polarity.
• Replace the bottom cover correctly and tighten it again.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Apart from the necessary changing of the batteries the product is maintenance-free.
Any maintenance or repair work must only be carried out by authorised personnel/workshop.
The exterior of the product can be cleaned with a soft cloth dampened with water. Never use aggressive
cleaning agents or chemical solutions since these might damage the surface of the casing or impair the
operation.
Disposal
a) In general
b) Disposal of used batteries
You, as the end user, are under a legal obligation (Battery Regulation) to take back all used batteries and
rechargeable batteries; disposing of them via domestic waste is not permitted!
You thus fulfi l the legal requirements and make your contribution to protecting the environment!

If there is a protection foil on the solar panel/on the top, please remove it now.
Regardless of the switch position the accumulator of the solar lamp is being charged every time
the sun shines at the solar panel.
Which means, even if the solar lamp is turned off the battery inside will be charged.
Keep the top side of the solar lamp with the solar panel clean. Take particular care that the cover
plate does not become dirty and that it is kept free of snow and ice in winter. This reduces the
capacity of the solar cell.
Dispose of an unserviceable product in accordance with the relevant statutory regulations.
Pollutant-containing batteries/rechargeable batteries marked with symbols which indicate that it
is prohibited to disposal of them in domestic waste.
The symbols for dangerous heavy metal constituents are: Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Mercury, Pb =
Lead.
You can hand in your used batteries/rechargeable batteries free of charge at the offi cial collection
points of your community, in our stores, or anywhere batteries or rechargeable batteries are sold.
