Intended use
The product is designed to read and write suitable memory cards of various formats. It can be connected
to a computer via USB.
It is intended for indoor use only. Do not use it outdoors. Contact with moisture, e.g. in bathrooms, must be
avoided under all circumstances.
For safety and approval purposes, you must not rebuild and/or modify this product. If you use the product
for purposes other than those described above, the product may be damaged. In addition, improper use can
cause hazards such as short circuiting, fire etc. Read the instructions carefully and keep them. Make this
product available to third parties only together with its operating instructions.

Description of symbols
The symbol with an exclamation mark in a triangle indicates important instructions contained in
these operating instructions that must be followed.
The arrow symbol alerts the user to the presence of important tips and notes on using the
device.
Safety instructions
Read the operating instructions carefully and especially observe the safety information.
If you do not follow the safety instructions and information on proper handling in this
manual, we assume no liability for any resulting personal injury or damage to property.
Such cases will invalidate the warranty/guarantee.
• The device is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
• Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. These may become dangerous
playing material for children.
• Protect the product from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, strong jolts, high humidity,
moisture, flammable gases, vapours and solvents.
• Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.
• If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of operation and protect it
from any accidental use. Safe operation can no longer be guaranteed if the product:
- is visibly damaged,
- is no longer working properly,
- has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
- has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses.
• Please handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a low height can damage
the product.
• Also observe the safety and operating instructions of any other devices which are connected
to the product.
• Consult an expert when in doubt about operation, safety or connection of the device.
• Maintenance, modifications and repairs are to be performed exclusively by an expert or at a
qualified shop.
• If you have questions which remain unanswered by these operating instructions, contact our
technical support service or other technical personnel.
Driver/software installation
The CD contains a driver/software for the SIM card reader.
The SIM card reader can be used only on Windows
The drivers necessary for reading/writing normal cards (SD, MS, etc.) are already integrated into
the operating system.
• Turn on the computer and wait until the operating system has fully loaded.
• Insert the included CD into your computer's appropriate disk drive. If the installation program does not
start automatically, you need to start it manually (the installation program in the CD's root folder is called
"autorun.exe" or similar).
• Follow the instructions of the software or your operating system.

Connection
Connect the card reader to a free USB port on your computer. Use the included USB extension cable if
required.
Important information concerning use on Windows
Additional installation steps are necessary to read/write SIM cards when using Windows
follows:
• First install the driver/software.
• Connect the card reader to your computer. Windows
recognizes an "eHome" infrared receiver (Windows
• Open the Device Manager on the Control Panel. On the Control Panel, first select "Hardware and Sound"
• Then click "Device Manager".
• Under "USB Controller" the "eHome infrared receiver (USBCIR)" is marked with an exclamation point as

7 could not launch the hardware.

• Right-click the "eHome infrared receiver (USBCIR)" and select "Update driver software...".
• Then select "Search for driver software on this computer".
• Click "Select from a list of device drivers on this computer".
• The following list should now show e.g. "eHome infrared receiver (USBCIR)" and "USB composite device".
• Click "USB composite device" and "Next".
• Now the driver will be correctly integrated. The following message appears: "The driver software was
successfully installed".
• Click "Close". Following this set-up procedure, the product and all functions are now available on
Windows

Notes
• To read/write SIM cards on Windows
, first start the software "SimEdit". Then insert your SIM card into

the appropriate slot.
Click on the button "SimEdit Manual" to show the software instructions.
• The SD and microSD slots may not be used at the same time. If both slots are occupied, only the microSD
slot is active.
• The LED lights up when the card reader is connected to the power supply. The LED flashes during data
transfer.
• For older operating systems: Some memory card formats (such as exFAT) might require the installation
of a system patch in order for the card reader to recognize the memory card. Refer to the operating
instructions and the latest update information of your operating system.
• The card reader or the card could get damaged if the card is improperly aligned and inserted.
• Never disconnect the product or remove the card during data transmission. There is a risk of loosing or
corrupting data.
• Properly eject the memory card from the card reader before removing it to prevent data loss, data
corruption or product damage. Observe the operating instructions of your operating system.
Cleaning and care
• Remove the product from the computer before cleaning.
• Never submerge the product in water.
• Clean the product with a dry, fibre-free cloth.
• Do not use any abrasive or chemical cleaners.
Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the household waste.
At the end of its service life, dispose of the product in accordance with applicable regulatory
guidelines.
You thus fulfill your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
