Intended use
The product is intended for connection to a USB port and is used as a document scanner for
separate sheets (max. paper size A4). The document scanner can be fi xed on a suitable metal
surface via a delivered magnet bar. In order to operate the product a USB port, capable of
providing a current of 500 mA, is required .

Safety Instructions
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe
these safety instructions! We do not assume any liability for any consequen-
tial damage!
Nor do we assume any liability for material and personal damage caused by
improper use or non-compliance with the safety instructions! In such cases,
the warranty will be null and void.
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modifi cation of the product is not permitted for safety
and approval reasons (CE).
• The product is not a toy and should be kept out of the reach of children.
• The product must not get damp or wet.
• Do not leave packaging material carelessly lying around since it could become a dangerous
plaything for children.
• Handle the product with care, it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental drops, even
from a low height.
Driver/Software Installation
• Insert the enclosed CD in an appropriate drive on your computer. If the installation does not
start automatically, open the CD e.g. with Windows fi le manager and start the installation
program manually.
• Follow all the instructions given by the software or Windows. If preferred, the software can be
registered with the manufacturer; however, you can also skip this step. Windows may need
to be restarted after completing the installation.
• Download the current free Adobe Reader from adobe.com and install it.
Connection and Getting Started
• Connect the document scanner to a free USB port on your computer. This must be a USB
port which can deliver a current of 500 mA (e.g. a USB port of the computer on the front/rear
side or the USB port of a USB hub with separate power pack).
• Windows recognises the new hardware and completes the driver installation. After this, you
may use the document scanner.

The document scanner can be fi xed on a suitable metal surface via a delivered
magnet bar.
One side of the magnet strip is marked with a sticker. This side must point in the
direction of the document scanner.
To remove the magnet strip from the document scanner, lift it at the left or right end.
Never try to lift the magnet strip at the magnet. It can be damaged.

• Calibration must be performed during the initial start-up or the fi rst time the software is run. A
special calibration sheet is attached for this. Place it on the paper feed and start the calibra-

tion process.

• For scanning, place the document in the document scanner such that the side of the sheet to
be scanned faces downwards.

Cleaning
Use a clean, dry soft cloth to clean the product. Do not apply too much pressure, as this can
scratch the product.
Dust can be removed very easily by a long-haired, clean, soft brush or with a vacuum cleaner.
A special cleaning fl eece is attached for cleaning the driver rollers in the document scanner.
Insert this fl eece instead of a normal sheet of paper in the feed tray of the document scanner
and start the scanning operation. This can also be done sequentially several times.

To run the software, observe the operating instructions of the manufacturer in Eng-
lish. This is attached either as printed version and/or as PDF on the supplied CD.
The calibration can be repeated, if you feel the scans are too dark or the colours
have not been reproduced correctly.
If the calibration sheet is lost, you can also use a slightly thicker white paper sheet
(100 - 120 g/m²) instead.
Do not scan dusty or soiled documents, as the rubber drive rollers absorb these dirt
particles and this may interrupt paper transport. If you fi nd that documents are no
longer being transported through the document scanner correctly, you may opt for
a cleaning operation; A special cleaning fl eece is attached for this purpose, see the
next Chapter.
