Explanation of symbols
The symbol with the lightning in the triangle is used if there is a risk to your health, e.g. due to an electric shock.
This symbol is used to highlight important information in these operating instructions. Always read this
information carefully.
This symbol indicates special information and advice on how to use the product.
IP68
The product is protected against dust ingress and lasting submersion in water up to a depth of 1 m.
This symbol indicates that this product is built according to protection class II. It is equipped with reinforced or
dual insulation between the mains circuit and the output voltage.
This symbol indicates that a safety transformer is built into the product according to the VDE 0551 guidelines.
The product contains a thermal fuse (non-replaceable). The stated temperature is the temperature at which the
130° C
fuse is triggered.
Safety information
Read the operating instructions and safety information carefully. If you do not follow the safety
instructions and information on proper handling in this manual, we assume no liability for any resulting
personal injury or damage to property. Such cases will invalidate the warranty/guarantee.
a) General information
• This product is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
• Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly, as it may become dangerous playing material for
children.
• Protect the product from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, strong jolts, high humidity, moisture,
flammable gases, vapours and solvents.
• Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.
• If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, stop using it and prevent unauthorized use. Safe
operation can no longer be guaranteed if the product:
- is visibly damaged,
- is no longer working properly,
- has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
- has been subjected to any serious transport-related stress.
• Always handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a low height may damage the product.
• Always observe the safety and operating instructions of any other devices which are connected to the product.
• Consult a technician if you are not sure how to use or connect the product.
• Maintenance, modifications and repairs must be done by a technician or an authorized repair centre.
• If you have questions which remain unanswered by these operating instructions, contact our technical support
service or other technical personnel.
b) Persons/Product
• The mains socket must be located near to the device and be easily accessible.
• Never unplug the mains plug by pulling on the cable; always use the grips on the plug.
• Unplug the mains plug from the mains socket if you do not plan to use the device for an extended period
of time.
• For safety reasons, unplug the mains plug from the mains socket during thunderstorms.
• Make sure that the mains cable is not squeezed, bent, damaged by sharp edges or subjected to mechanical
stress. Avoid excessive thermal stress on the mains cable from extreme heat or cold. Do not modify the mains
cable. Otherwise the mains cable may be damaged. A damaged mains cable can cause a fatal electric shock.
• Never insert or unplug the mains plug when your hands are wet.
• Always lay the cables so that nobody can trip over or become entangled in them. This poses a risk of injury.
• This device was constructed according to protection class II. Only power the charger using a standard mains
socket (230 V/AC, 50 Hz) connected to the public grid.
• Do not touch the power adapter (block transformer) if it is damaged, as this may cause a fatal electric shock!
First, switch off the mains voltage to the socket to which the mains adapter is connected (switch off at the
corresponding circuit breaker or remove the safety fuse, and then switch off at the corresponding RCD
protective switch, so the socket is fully disconnected). You can then unplug the power adapter from the mains
socket. Dispose of the faulty plug-in charger in an environmentally friendly manner and discontinue use.
• Never leave the product and the connected device unattended during use.
• Always turn off the connected device before connecting and disconnecting the product from the mains .
• The product generates heat during use. Make sure that there is sufficient ventilation, and never cover the
product during operation.
• Before plugging in the power adapter, check whether the voltage stated on the power adapter complies with
the voltage of your electricity supplier.
• Never pour any liquids over unprotected electrical devices or place objects filled with liquid next to the product.
If liquid or an object does enter the interior of the device, power down the respective socket (e.g. switch off
circuit breaker), and then disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket. Discontinue use and take the
product to a specialist repair centre.
• Never use the product immediately after it has been brought from a cold room into a warm one. The
condensation generated could destroy the product. There is also a risk of a fatal electric shock! Allow the
product to reach room temperature before connecting it to an appliance. This may take several hours.
Installation
Ensure that no existing cables or pipes (including water pipes) are damaged when drilling mounting holes or
securing screws.
• Choose a suitable location to install the block transformer. It can be placed on a level surface, or you can screw it to a
surface vertically or horizontally. You can also mount it under water, provided that all holes are sealed (plug is connected
and a suitable seal is used).
• Drill four holes for the dowels into the mounting surface. (If you are using a wooden surface, you can screw the base directly
to the surface without using dowels. However, you should still drill holes even when using wood.) Insert the dowels into the
drilled holes. Tighten the screws with a suitable screwdriver.
• The screws and dowels needed to mount the block transformer are not included.
Operation
• Connect the two-prong plug to the socket and screw it in place. Ensure that the connections are fully sealed.
• Insert the mains plug into a nearby mains socket.
• The block transformer will switch on and power the connected device.
The thermal fuse will melt if the temperature of the block transformer exceeds 130 ºC, and the block transformer
will stop working. The fuse is not replaceable.
Care and cleaning
• Always disconnect the product from the power supply before cleaning it.
• Never use aggressive detergents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical solutions, as these could damage the casing or cause
the product to malfunction.
• Use a damp, lint-free cloth to clean the product. Do not allow water to drip into the socket for the low-voltage plug.
Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in household waste. Always dispose of the
product according to the relevant statutory regulations.
You thus fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
