General information
Prior to installation, including in hazard areas, read the Installation Instruc-
tions (download from the internet). It contains the safety instructions, hints
and technical data to be observed during installation. Subject to change with-
out notice.
Caution
In order to ensure reliable functioning of this product, take care to transport,
store, position and mount it appropriately. Exercise care when you operate and
maintain the device. Only properly qualified personnel is authorized to install
and operate this product.
Safety information
It is important for safety reasons that you read and understand the below
instructions before you install the system:
• Installation, connection, commissioning and maintenance shall be done by
properly qualified personnel.
• It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure that the personnel con-
cerned read and follow the instructions and directions of this Guide and of
the Installation Instructions.
• It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure that the position indicator
is correctly connected and configured.
• Only personnel specifically trained by SIKO shall execute repair and mainte-
nance work.

Installation
Before using the ProTool SGH, you must install the appropriate driver to match
the version of Windows used.
Driver installation
The drivers can be downloaded directly on our homepage.
Attention!
Administration rights for the driver installation are necessary!
The installation of the USB drivers is only necessary once per computer. The
link to the drivers can be found on our homepage.
Program installation
You can download the "ProToolSGH.EXE" software file directly from the homep-
age.
Connection at the wire-actuated encoder with Programming cable
with flat connector (connection in uninstalled state)
Before installation of the wire-actuated encoder into the cylinder, the ProTool
SGH can also be connected directly to the Programming cable with flat connec-
tor. This must be plugged into PCB connectors 1

Connection when installed with KV1H or SGH10L and programming
cable (M12)
The cable encoder is parameterized using one of the programming cables sup-
plied

(M12). The programming cable

is connected to the SGHXX via
the KV1H
cable connection. Only use the version that corresponds to the

encoder.
Attention!
For KV1H Terminal assignment:
- Use A1 black programming cable
- Use A2 yellow programming cable
Connection to the computer
To connect to the programming software, the ProTool SGH

Attention!
With older versions of the SGH, parameterization via the software is only possi-
ble when connected with the programming cable with flat connector. The limit
values can be parameterized using the LIMIT button of the ProTool. USB is then
only used for the power supply.
Attention!
All cabling work may only be carried out in the de-energized state.

All redundant wire-actuated encoders must also be parameterized via the
printed-circuit board (PCB) connector 2.
