DESCRIPTION
The switching modules Ex II and ExIII are part of JUNG PUMPEN spe-
cial controls. The modules are for intrinsically safe connection of 2 or 3
float switches or similar control units in Zone 1 or 2 explosion protect-
ed areas. They must be inserted outside explosion protected areas
between the float switches and a JUNG PUMPEN explosion protected
control unit for single or duplex units.
EMC
When installed as specified and used for the in-tended purpose, they
meet the protective requirements of the EMC Directive 2014/30/EU.
They are suitable for use in domestic and commercial areas of the
public electricity grid. When connected to an industrial mains supply
in an industrial plant with the power supply provided by a company-
owned high-voltage transformer, it is to be expected that there will be
insufficient immunity to interference.

INSTALLATION

NOTICE! The installation and electrical connection of the
device must only be carried out by an experienced, qualified
electrician who is fully conversant with the explosion protec-
tion standards (EN 60079-14:2007), and in full compliance with
these standards.
The device must only be installed and operated outside explosion pro-
tected areas and above the backup level.
The Ex II and Ex III modules must be housed in an enclosure (minimum
protection category IP 20). They must be kept in a clean, dry and well
monitored environment. The distance between the intrinsically safe
terminals of the active parts of any other electrical circuits must be at
least 50 mm (string length).
High humidity and/or condensation can cause faulty operation and
irreparable damage to the devices. The auxiliary switch unit/module
must be installed in such a way as to be readily accessible and to allow
checks to be carried out easily at any time.
Connecting to mains power supply and float
switch
Float switch cables must be labelled at the beginning and end, as well
as before and after each wall duct, with the Ex(i) explosion protection
stickers, in compliance with EN 60079-14:2007.
Electrical connection to the pump control unit (see connection dia-
gram and pump control unit).
OPERATION AND FAULTS
The explosion protected module is ready for operation once the elec-
tricity supply has been switched on. Switching operations are dis-
played by a green LED for each intrinsically safe circuit.
Notice! In the event of a power cut, switching commands can only be
transmitted if a backup battery has been inserted.
Faults must be reported to a qualified electrician.
The micro-fuses on the modules must only be replaced with an iden-
tical type of fuse!
F1: glass tube fuse 5x20, 1A slow; IEC 127-2/III; DIN 41662
F2: glass tube fuse 5x20, 125 mA medium slow; DIN 41571 T2
Insert 9V-battery
CAUTION!
Only use the 9V-NiMh battery supplied by the manufacturer! If dry-cell
batteries or Lithium batteries are used there is a danger of explosion!
If a 9V rechargeable battery is inserted, the number 1 control circuit of
the module can also be operated independently of the mains electrici-
ty supply. Depending on the charging status and age of the battery, a
continuous alarm signal of approximately one hour is possible without
mains electricity.
Disconnect the device from the electric power supply and open the
enclosure. Attach the rechargeable battery to the designated location
on the auxiliary switch module using a cable tie and connect it to the
battery terminal. The battery will be fully charged after approximately
100 hours.
Check the function of the battery at regular intervals! To do so, dis-
connect the unit from the electric power supply and trigger a high-
water alarm. Observe the alarm signal for several minutes. The battery
life is approximately 5 - 10 years (make a note on the battery of the date
it was inserted). Replace the battery after 5 years.
In the event of a power cut, the first control circuit (relay K1 with
the change-over contact) will switch over to battery power. The first
control circuit should therefore be used for providing the high-water
alarm. The attached pump control unit must also be fitted with a re-
chargeable battery as otherwise a full system alarm is not possible in
the event of a power cut.
