- Inspect components for visible debris, if debris remains, repeat the cleaning procedure using a nylon
brush wetted with the cleaning solution to remove it. Rinse components under tepid (potable) running
water for 30 seconds to remove cleaning agent.
- Dry with a disposable lint-free cloth.
Disinfection:
- Prepare disinfection solution per manufacturer instructions.
- Fully immerse the plastic cone and O-ring in the instrument disinfection solution for the recommended
concentration rates and contact time. At the end of the contact interval, scrub briely with a nylon brush
dipped in the disinfection solution.
- Rinse the components thoroughly under tepid (potable) running water for 30 seconds.
- Dry with a disposable lint-free cloth.
Packaging:
Place thumb nut and adapter in a paper/plastic steam sterilization pouch. Components may be loaded
into dedicated instruments tray.
Sterilization:
Note: The plastic cone is not steam autoclave sterilizable.
- Use a Dynamic Air Removal sterilizer (Pre-vacuum Steam Sterilizer/Cassette Pressure Pulse Steam
Sterilizer). Place bagged adapter and thumb nut into the steam autoclave. Place pouch per manufac-
turer's instructions. After warm-up is completed, operate at a sterilizing temperature of 134°C/273°F for
3 minutes or 137°C/279°F for 3 minutes.
Alternate method: Place non-bagged adapter and thumb nut into the steam autoclave. After warm-up
is completed, operate at a sterilizing temperature of 134°C/273°F for 3 minutes or 137°C/279°F for
3 minutes. Components should be used immediately.
Drying:
To dry, use the drying cycle of the autoclave. Set cycle for 20-30 minutes.
Maintenance, inspection and testing:
• Visually inspect to ensure all contamination is removed.
• Check for distortion, damage and wear. Discard damaged, worn or corroded components.
Storage:
To maintain sterility, instruments should remain bagged until ready to use.
