Conversion kit to telescope shock
absorber Austin Healey BN1-BJ8
Mounting instructions:
We want to stress that the described conversion should
only be done by a professional.
Lift the vehicle on the rear axle and make sure it stands
safely by using chassis stands. Secure the vehicle so it
can't roll away and use additional wedges under the rear
wheels if necessary.
1. After having removed the wheels, loosen the lever shock
absorber on both fixation points and take it off together
with the connection arm.
2. Remove the fuel pump from the chassis. Now, fix the fuel
pump on the included support metal sheet (HA29AH-3) by
using the included screws. Then, fix the fuel pump and the
support metal sheet to the chassis again. (Figure 1 and 2)
3. Mount the upper mounting plate (HA29AH...-1) by using
the included screws on the original frame part. (Figures 3
and 4)
4. Remove the lower original supports and mount the in-
cluded shock absorber support (HA29AH...-2) instead by
using the screws.
5. finally, fix the telescope shock absorber to the upper
mounting plate respectively lower shock absorber support
by using the screws.
Tightening torques:
The fixation screws have to be tightened with the follow-
ing torque (indication in Nm)
Ø 1/4 UNF 11 Nm
Ø 5/16 UNF 23 Nm
Ø 3/8 UNF 41 Nm
Ø 7/6 UNF 65 Nm
Ø 1/2 UNF 100 Nm
