The product can be mounted either in an 8.89 cm / 3.5" drawer of a computer casing or alterna-

Installation
If in doubt about how to install the device correctly, please contact an expert
or a specialist workshop and let them carry out the installation!
Switch off the computer in which the product is to be installed as well as
all connected devices, and disconnect all devices from the mains voltage,
remove the power plug from the mains supply! Just turning off at the on/off
switch is not enough!
Note:
The front drawer provides a total of four USB3.0 ports. For the connection to the
main board or a USB3.0 plug-in card, you will need two 20-pole internal USB3.0
cables (not included in the delivery, to be ordered separately).
If your main board only has an internal 20-pole USB3.0 connection, you will only be
able to use two of the four USB3.0 ports on the front drawer (either the left or the
right two USB3.0 ports, depending on which of the two 20-pole connections were
used).
For the operation of the two other USB3.0 ports on the front drawer, you can insert
a corresponding USB3.0 plug-in card, for example, which has an internal 20-pole
USB3.0 port.
Alternatively, it is possible to lead the two external USB3.0 ports of the main board
back to the inside of the PC casing using suitable adaptors and to connect them to
the front drawer.
Open your computer's case and carefully remove the cover.
Choose from the following installation options (see below).
After the installation, all cables are to be fastened in the PC casing so that they cannot enter
the fan of the computer.
Close the PC's casing. Reconnect your computer to the mains voltage and switch on all
devices. If your computer does not start correctly, switch it off again immediately and check all
the cable connections.
Before opening the PC again, disconnect the PC from the mains voltage, see
above!
a) Front installation in the drive slot
• Remove the front cover of a free drive slot on your PC's casing (8.89 cm/3.5"). For the instal-
lation into a 13.3 cm/5.25" drive slot an appropriate installation frame is required (not included
in the delivery, to be ordered separately).
Often there is a metal shielding behind the front cover, which has to be removed fi rst.
With some casings, you have to unscrew this, with others you have to slide it out carefully.
Depending on the casing, you may have to remove the entire front cover fi rst.
• Afterwards, connect each one of the internal USB3.0 connection cables (not included in the
delivery, to be ordered separately) to the two multipin connectors. Due to the design of the
jack and the multi-pin connector's base, only one position of the jack is possible.
The missing pin on the multi-pin connectors serves the purpose of attaching
corresponding jacks without twisting them; this is not a manufacturing defect.
• Insert the connection cables and the front drawer in the mounting slot of your computer
casing.
• Screw the front drawer tightly into the mounting slot, so that the front of the card reader is
connected to the front of your computer casing.
• Connect the 20-pole plugs of the two internal USB3.0 connection cables to one matching

b) Installation via the slot plate enclosed
• First, disassemble the printed circuit board from the front drawer, remove the locking screws.
• Afterwards, screw the slot plate provided onto the circuit board.
• Afterwards, connect each one of the internal USB3.0 connection cables (not included in the
delivery, to be ordered separately) to the two multipin connectors. Due to the design of the
jack and the multi-pin connector's base, only one position of the jack is possible.
• Remove a slot plate from your PC casing. The printed circuit board does not have any contact
to the main board, therefore, any position is possible.
With some PC casings the slot plate is tightly screwed, with others it must be carefully slid out
of the metal casing.
• Fasten the slot plate in the PC casing, depending on the design of the casing.
• Connect the 20-pole plugs of the two internal USB3.0 connection cables to one matching

of the jack and the multi-pin connector's base, only one position of the jack is possible.
Tips & Notes
• The two 20-pole multi-pin connectors on the circuit board of the front drawer are only looped
through to the two USB3.0 ports located in front.
If you only connect one of the two multi-pin connectors to e.g. a corresponding internal
USB2.0 connection of the main board using a 20-pole cable, then only two USB3.0 ports are
available on the front drawer!
• Of course, USB2.0/1.1 devices will also work on the USB3.0 ports.
• Make sure the USB3.0 cables are as short as possible, otherwise this will lead to a decrease
of the transfer speed.
Disposal
The missing pin on the multi-pin connectors serves the purpose of attaching
corresponding jacks without twisting them; this is not a manufacturing defect.
Make sure the cables e.g. do not prevent the functioning of the fan of a graphics
card! In such cases, use another installation position.
Depending on the speed of the USB2.0 controller in your computer, it may be pos-
sible that a USB2.0 device on a USB3.0 controller reads or writes data slightly faster.
However, in most cases there is no difference.
Dispose of the unserviceable product according to the relevant statutory regulations!
