Notes on batteries/rechargeable batteries
• Keep batteries/rechargeable batteries out of the reach of children.
• Check that the polarity is correct when inserting the batteries/rechargeable batteries (pay attention to plus
and minus!).
• Do not leave batteries/rechargeable batteries lying around; they could be swallowed by children or pets. If
swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
• Leaking, or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries, in contact with the skin can cause acid burns,
therefore, use suitable protective gloves.
• Batteries/rechargeable batteries must not be short-circuited, opened or thrown into a fire. There is a risk of
explosion!
• Conventional batteries must not be recharged. Risk of explosion!
• Never mix batteries and rechargeable batteries; do not mix batteries or rechargeable batteries with different
charges (e.g. full and half-full batteries). Always use two batteries / rechargeable batteries of the same type
and manufacturer.
The numeric keypad can also be powered by rechargeable batteries, however, this decreases
the operating time, due to the lower voltage (battery=1.5V; rechargeable battery=1.2V).
Inserting/replacing the batteries
• Open the battery compartment on the bottom of the numeric keypad and insert two type AAA/micro batteries
with the correct polarity (observe Plus/+ and Minus/-). Close the battery compartment.
• The batteries require changing when the range is limited, or key entries or mouse movements are no longer
possible.
Getting started
• Switch on your PC and wait until the operating system has finished loading.
• Switch on the numeric keypad (slide the switch on the bottom to the „ON" position).
• Connect the USB receiver to a free USB port on your computer.
• Windows recognises the new hardware and after a short while, completes the driver installation. The drivers
are integrated in Windows, therefore there is no driver CD enclosed.
• In order for the USB receiver to recognise the numeric keypad, the keypad must be registered with the USB
receiver. Usually, this has already been done by the manufacturer.
In the case that movement of the mouse or keyboard entries are not possible, please continue as follows to

carry out the registration:
Press the button on the USB receiver. The LED next to the button flashes.
Press the „CONNECT" button on the bottom of the numeric keypad within the next 8 seconds . The LED on
Version 06/09
the USB receiver should now flash rapidly, this shows that the registration is completed.
°
Choose operating mode
At the side of the numeric keypad is a small „MODE SWITCH" button. This switches the devices operating
mode between:
• Numeric keypad
• Mouse function
• Numeric keypad and mouse function
Depending on the actual operating mode the LEDs „MS" (mouse function) and „KB" (numeric keypad) flash
on the top.
Tips & Notes
• The optical sensor on the bottom does not work correctly on some surfaces, e.g. on glass or shiny, reflective
surfaces. Use a suitable surface, e.g. a mouse pad.
• Metal areas also reduce the range, e.g. tables with a metal frame or metal drawers.
• If the mouse cursor on the screen does not react to movements of the numeric keypad/mouse, check the
state of the batteries and replace them with new ones; activate the correct operation mode, when necessary!
• Switch off the numeric keypad with the on-/off switch on the bottom, when it is not in use. This extends the
operating life of the batteries.
Cleaning
• Check the optical sensor occasionally, to check if dust particles have been deposited on it and remove them
with a soft brush. A dusty sensor can cause jumping and loss of control over the on screen mouse cursor.
• Clean the surface of the device with a clean, dry cloth. Do not use aggressive detergents as these might
cause discoloration.
Disposal

b) Batteries and rechargeable batteries
As the end user, you are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all used batteries/rechargeable

Leave sufficient distance (at least 20 cm) to other devices, monitor, speakers etc, because they
can influence the registration process.
If the USB receiver does not recognise the numeric keypad, please check the batteries, and
also check if the numeric keypad is switched on (slide switch on the bottom in the „ON"
position).
When desired, the mouse function can be switched off with this, so when using the numeric
keypad the mouse cursor, or the input field, do not get displaced in your software. Or the
numeric keypad can be switched off, so when it is used as a mouse no accidental entries can
take place.

Please dispose of the device when it is no longer of use, according to the current statutory
requirements.
Contaminated batteries/rechargeable batteries are labelled with these symbols to indicate that
disposal in the domestic waste is forbidden. The symbols for the relevant heavy metals are:
Cd=cadmium, Hg=mercury, Pb=lead (the marking can be seen on the battery/rechargeable
battery e.g. below the refuse bin symbol shown on the left).
