Care and storage

As long as you care for you Griddle and Fire Bowl properly, it will last for generations. For that purpose,
you should follow some important basic rules.
• Always heat the Griddle and Fire Bowl together with the grease slowly in order for the material to
have enough time to expand.
• At first you need a bit more grease to roast food in the Petromax Griddle and Fire Bowl. The more
often you use it, the darker it becomes, and the less grease it needed, as a patina has formed.
• Never clean the Griddle and Fire Bowl (and support legs) in the dishwasher or clean it with dishwashing
liquid! It could damage or even destroy the patina.
• After use, just wipe the Griddle and Fire Bowl with kitchen paper or wash with hot water and a
commercially available dishwashing brush or a sponge. We recommend the Petromax Chain Mail
Cleaner to remove burnt residues without damaging the patina. Dry thoroughly and grease lightly in
order to seal the surface of your Griddle and Fire Bowl. For that purpose, use the food-safe Petromax
Care Conditioner or a neutral oil or vegetable fat. Do not use olive oil, for it cannot reach a very high
temperature when roasted. Clean and grease the support legs as well before storing the Griddle
and Fire Bowl.
• Always store your Griddle and Fire Bowl in a dry place. Never stow when wet or/and untreated.
• After use as a fire bowl, let it cool down completely and dispose of the ashes properly.

Warranty

In case of proper use, a warranty period of two years applies to your Petromax Griddle and Fire Bowl from
the date of purchase. If you cannot use your Petromax Griddle and Fire Bowl properly due to a defect in
material or manufacturing, you are entitled to a warranty repair. Contact your retailer for that purpose.
