• The device is intended for use on Adult patients.
• Do not use the device should the packaging be compromised or shows signs
of damage.
• If any failure or incorrect operation of the device is detected, it must be
immediately replaced with another device.
• Use of the device in any way other than described in this manual is prohibited.
• Do not modify or alter the device in any way; any such modifications could
cause malfunction and/or injury to the patient.
• Handle the device with care. The device should be transported in its original
packaging.
• Properly store the device in a controlled environment.
• Do not expose the device to direct heat or flammable products.
• Should an adverse event occur that involves the device, the user is obliged to
report to the incident to the Ministry of Health and to the Manufacturer within
the time specified by the European Regulations.
An extrication collar is only part of total patient immobilization. It is important that
practitioners are trained and practiced in the use and application of the device and
that all instructions are read and understood prior to application of the collar.
All directions are to be considered as guidelines and not an attempt to define
medical practice.
Use the device only after review and approval from the supervising medical
authority.
General Overview
The LUBO™ Airway device is an adjustable, radio-lucent, single-use upper airway
opening system that has been combined with a cervical collar. This combination
enables non-invasive airway management to be assisted in cases of trauma where
cervical fixation is a necessity. The Lubo is intended for use in cases of trauma that
otherwise were often fatal because first respondents were unable to safely open the
airway without risking further injury to the victim's spinal cord.
The LUBO unit is simple and easy to use device.
Main Components
• Flexible chest plate that enables the device to be adjusted to different patients
sizes. The anterior part protects the cervical spine from flexion.
• Chin Holder with adjustable straps.
• A set of adjustable Mandible cups used for the jaw thrust.
• Set of Mandible sliding levers (with release) used to push the mandible cups
forward thus opening the airway.

Contraindications
• The use of this device, if used as described herein, does not present any
contraindications or collateral effects.
Device Description
Intended Use
For use by trained paramedics and care providers in first aid and emergency
situations for open airway and immobilization of the cervical spine in traumatic
patients.
Warning
The LUBO Airway collar is intended for application by licensed health care
practitioners as directed by a physician or other medical authority. Permanent
injury may result from use other than as directed by a physician or other medical
authority.
Caution! Prolonged use of the jaw thrust may lead to discomfort or possible injury.
The caregiver therefore should perform periodic checks to determine its suitability
to the patient condition. In case of doubt consult a medical doctor. Care should be
taken in cases of suspected jaw fracture.
Benefits and Use
• Pre-hospital external air way with cervical collar.
• Lubo is the first noninvasive device that can open an airway by imitating a jaw
thrust maneuver while protecting the cervical spine.
• Use on adults in trauma events whenever cervical spine injury is suspected and
there is a need for securing open airway or any trauma events requiring airway
opening.
• One-piece, adjustable to size, flat storage, single-use (disposable) and
radiolucent.
• Can be applied by a single caregiver. Mechanical jaw thrust maneuver promotes
single-use care giver resuscitation.
• Can be used as a cervical collar with or without airway opening.
• Lubo allows for intubation to be performed.

Preparing the Lubo
Remove the Lubo from its package and display the device so that the components
are visible. Check that the device is in good condition.

Instructions for Use
EN: Before applying the Lubo, check that the

are in their full back position.
