Safety Instructions
D amages due to failure to follow these operating instructions will void the warranty.
We do not assume any liability for any resulting damage!
W e do not assume any liability for material and personal damage caused by improper
use or non-compliance with the safety instructions. In such cases, the warranty/gua-
rantee will be null and void.
a) General
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is not permitted for
safety and approval reasons (CE). Never disassemble the product.
• Any maintenance or repair work may only be performed by an expert.
• Do not leave packaging material carelessly lying around, since it could become a
dangerous plaything for children.
b) A/C power plug
• The design of the power adapter complies with Protection Class II. Use only a stan-
dard mains socket as the power source for the wall plug transformer.
• The mains socket into which the power adapter is plugged must be easily accessib-
le.
• Use only the wall plug transformer supplied to power the splitter.
• Do not pull the wall plug transformer from the mains socket by pulling on the cable.
Hold it on the sides of the casing and pull it out of the mains socket.
• Do not touch an AC adapter that shows signs of damage; there is a danger to life from
electric shock!
First, switch off the mains voltage to the socket to which the wall plug transformer is
connected (switch off at the corresponding circuit breaker or remove the safety fuse
or switch off at the corresponding RCD protective switch, so that the socket is fully
disconnected).
You can then unplug the wall plug transformer from the mains socket. Dispose of
the faulty wall plug transformer in an environmentally friendly way, do not use it any
more. Replace it with a wall plug transformer of the same design.
c) Operation
• This product is not a toy. Devices operated using mains voltages should not be used
by children. Therefore, be especially careful when children are around. Use the pro-
duct where it is out of the reach of children.
• The product is intended for use only in dry, indoor locations. No part of the product
should become damp or wet; never handle it if your hands are wet! Wall plug trans-
formers pose the potential risk of a fatal electric shock!
• Avoid the following adverse conditions at the installation location and during trans-
port:
- Excessive humidity or dampness
- Extreme cold or heat, direct sunlight
- Dust or flammable gases, fumes or solvents
- Strong vibrations, impact or blows
- Strong magnetic fields such as those found in the vicinity of machinery or louds-
peakers
• Do not place objects on the splitter; never cover the splitter.
• Choose a stable, even, flat and sufficiently large surface for the installation.
• Never use the product immediately after it has been taken from a cold room to a
warm one. The condensation that forms might damage the product. The wall plug
transformer also poses a risk for a potentially fatal electric shock!
Allow the product to reach room temperature, before connecting it to the power
supply and putting it into use. This may take several hours.
• When setting up the product, make sure that the cable is neither kinked nor pinched.
• Handle the product with care, it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental
falls, even from a low height.
Connection and Getting Started
• Choose an appropriate installation site for the transformer. When installing the splitter, protect
sensitive furniture surfaces from scratches, stains or dents using a suitable pad.
• Connect. Outputs suitable for the connecting cable with your monitor.
• Connect the outputs ("Output1" or "Output2") to the monitors by means of appropriate connec-
tion cables.
• Connect the input ("mini display port in") with the corresponding output of the computer's gra-
phics card.
• Connect the low voltage round plug from the enclosed wall plug transformer to the correspon-
ding socket on the splitter.
• Plug the wall plug transformer into a mains socket. The power LED on the USB hub lights up.
• Turn on the computer and the monitors connected to the splitter. The LED of the corresponding
splitter output illuminates, as soon as the monitor is recognised.
Troubleshooting
No image on one of the monitors
• First check, whether the monitor is working properly when connected directly to the computer
(without splitter).
• Then check the connection of the cable/plug between splitter and monitor, or computer. Repla-
ce damaged cables.
• Use a high-quality HDMI cable. In particular at higher screen resolutions.
• The resolution (or colour depth) of the playback signal of the computer is too high for example
(on a monitor, for example the message "Mode not supported" etc. (signal is not supported) will
appear).
• Switch on the monitor, the splitter and the computer. Select the correct input on the monitor. If
the computer has multiple video outputs, check whether the (mini) display port output is active.
• If you use a signal converter, remove it for testing purposes, and connect the splitter, computer
and monitors directly using the "real" (mini) display port cable. Also, set the computer to the HD
compatible resolution.
No sound
• Check whether the monitor has built-in speakers. Then adjust the volume on your monitor to the
appropriate level.
• Check, whether the computer can send an audio signal via the display port output at all.
• Check the settings of your operating system, whether the correct audio output setting is selec-
ted so that an audio signal can be delivered over the (mini) display port output. Set the volume
on the computer correctly.
• If you use a signal converter, remove it for testing purposes, and connect the splitter, computer
and monitors directly using the "real" (mini) display port cable.
Maintenance and Cleaning
The product does not require any maintenance and should never be disassembled for any reason.
Any maintenance or repair work may only be performed by an expert.
Prior to cleaning the device, pull the wall plug transformer out of the mains socket.
Use a clean, dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents, as these can
cause discolouration. Do not press too strongly on the surface when cleaning, to prevent scratch
marks.
Dust can easily be removed using a clean, long-haired brush and a vacuum cleaner.
Disposal
The product must not be disposed of in the household waste.
Dispose of the product at the end of its serviceable life in accordance with the current
statutory requirements; e.g., return it to any suitable collection point.
