Operating Instructions
Version 06/13
Electronic Universal Switch
Item No. 22 73 89
Intended Use
The product acts as a switch for electrical loads such as light bulbs, LED-strips or also small electric motors
using a model remote control built to scale (not included in the delivery).
The module is powered directly via the receiver battery and can operate a corresponding load via the poten-
tial-free relay contact (for max. capacity / voltage / power, see Chapter „Technical Data").
This product complies with the legal, national and European requirements. All company names and product
designations included are trade marks of the respective owner. All rights reserved.
Scope of Delivery
• Universal Switch Module
• Instructions for use
Safety Instructions
The guarantee is not valid for damage caused by failure to observe these instructions for
use. We do not assume any liability for consequential damage!
We do not assume any liability for injuries to objects or persons caused by incorrect hand-
ling or non compliance with the safety instructions. In such cases the guarantee becomes
void.
a) General
• For reasons of safety and approval (CE), unauthorised reconstruction and/or alteration of the product is
not permitted.
• The product is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children.
• The product must not become damp or wet. It must be protected from heat, cold, direct sunlight, vibrations,
dust and dirt.
• The product may not be operated in areas where there is a risk of explosion.
• Do not leave the packaging material lying around carelessly. This could become a dangerous toy for
children.
• Handle the product carefully. It will be damaged by jolts, knocks or a fall even from a low height.
b) Connecting
• Connection may only be carried out in the absence of any voltage / current.
• A suitable screwdriver is needed for connecting the assembly kit.
• Note the information in the „Technical Data" section. The product may only be operated via a stabilised
direct current voltage of 4 - 6 V/DC.
• Make sure the signal configuration of the connecting wires is correct when connecting the receiver con-
nector (see Fig. 1, Pos. 1). The yellow wire must be connected to the receiver's impulse outlet. The black
wire must be connected to the minus connector and the red wire must be connected to the plus connector
of the receiver outlet.
• An incorrect connection can cause damage to the product and result in the loss of guarantee! If in doubt,
let someone else with the appropriate professional expertise carry out the connection.
• The product may only be operated when firmly mounted, for example in a suitable casing. If this is not
complied with, there will be a risk of a short circuit which will destroy the module. Loss of guarantee!
• Do not overload the relay contact. See the „Technical Data" chapter regarding the maximum relay loading
capacity (capacity / voltage / power). In case of non-compliance there is danger to life from an electric
shock!
Connecting and Activating
(
7
1 3-pin connector for connecting to the receiver
2 Adjuster P1 for adjusting the switching shaft
3 Sliding switch S1 for adjusting the relay response to the transmitter controller (energising / de-energising
the relay)
• Before connecting the switch module to the receiver, it is advisable to connect a servo to the receiver's
projected switch outlet and then test whether the transmitter is functioning correctly. A rotating or a sliding
adjuster or a switch can be used as a controller on the transmitter.
• If the servo responds to the controller with alternating full-scale deflection, the receiver can be switched
off, and instead of the servo, the switch module can be connected to the receiver. If the connecting plug
on the switch module (see Fig. 1, Pos. 1) is not compatible with your remote control system, use a suitable
adapter cable.
• Activate the receiver and test whether the relay on the switch module's circuit board switches audibly
when the controller on the transmitter is activated. If necessary, you can regulate the switching shaft on the
adjuster P1 (see Fig. 2, Pos. 2) so that the relay switches reliably. Use a suitable screwdriver to do this.
• If the relay should energise or de-energise when the controller is activated, you can regulate this using the
sliding switch S1 (see Fig. 1, Pos. 3).
• If the relay responds reliably to the switch commands of the transmitter, you can connect the electricity
supply wires to the relay contacts (see Fig. 1). As the relay is equipped with a changeover contact, it would
be possible to operate two electrical loads (for example lamp A and lamp B) alternately.
Important:
If inductive loads (inductors or motors) are to be operated instead of light bulbs, then corres-
ponding free-wheeling diodes must be operated parallel to the load in order to protect the relay
contacts from induction voltage peaks.
Installing in the Model
• Place the module in a suitable plastic casing or in a protected place on your model. Secure it there with a
strip of double-sided adhesive tape.
• Make sure the circuit board is sufficiently ventilated. Also make sure that no metal pieces come in contact
with the components on the circuit board or with the conductor path. Risk of short circuit!
• Place the connecting wires such that they cannot be slackened or detached due to shocks or vibrations.
Use suitable cable ties, for instance.
Disposal
Do not dispose of electric / electronic products as household waste. At the end of its serviceable
life the product must be disposed of in accordance with the statutory regulations in force.
