7.8 Protection

(Motor Protection Switch, Failure Current Switch)
To protect the motor from overloading it is required to
install a motor protection switch. The curret protection
relais has to be adjusted max. at the nominal motor
current according the data on the name plate of the
motor. In case the effective max. operating current is
lower than the nominal motor current we reccomend
to adjust the the current protection relais at a lower
value (as referece: max. operating current plus 5%).
Obmit: The current protection relais protects the motor
only for over current. Failures caused by over temper-
ature could not be protected by the current relais.
Further it is mandatory to foresee a failure current
switch.

8. Faults - Causes and Solutions

The following notes on causes of faults and how to
repair them are intended as an aid to recognising the
problem. The manufacturer's Customer Service De-
partment is available to help repair faults that the op-
erator cannot or does not want to repair. If the opera-
tor repairs or changes the pump, the design data on
the Data Sheet and Points 1.2 - 1.4 of these Operat-
ing Instructions should be particularly taken into ac-
count. If necessary, the written agreement of the
manufacturer must be obtained.

7.9 Operation with Frequency Inverter

Variable speed operation using a frequency inverter or
Hydrovar is in general possible. The used inverter
must be in accordance with the local requirements,
the type should be pulswithmodulated (PWM).
For a max. winding temperature acc. class B it is re-
quired that the max. power consumtion is 10% less
than the nominal motor power. In case windeing tem-
perature according insilation class F is accepted op-
eration at foll nominal motor power is possible.
It is not allowed to exceed the max. operating speed
according the pump name plate, otherwise the motor
could be overloaded. The min. operating speed
should not be less than 50% of the max. speed t se-
cure proper lubrication of the bearings and cooling by
the motor fan. Lower speeds during start up and run
out should be passed as quick as possible.
