3.7.2 Control before Use
3.7.2.1 Check the following points:
- Check minimum nominal capacity (see above)
- Control of the used assembly of the resulting device class (see section 7)
- Visual inspection of all assemblies
- Exchange damaged parts
- Inspection of the long-time expiration date of gas and combination filters (see filter labelling)
- Do not use unclosed or damaged filters
- Only closed stored gas and combination filter are suitable for reuse under specific circumstances (maxi-
mum of 6 months)
3.7.2.2 System check before use
With every turning-on, the device performs an automatic system check. During this phase, the following is
checked:
- Filter present
- Blower ready for use
- Filter polluted
- Communication between SVE and battery present
To start the check, turn on the installed (=connected to headboard and filter) blower. After that, take on
your respiratory protection equipment.
Wait 45 seconds until the system has checked if everything operates properly and your system is ready for
use.
If anything should not work properly during the 45-seconds check, a premature acoustic warning is given
and a error is displayed on the screen of the SVE. The SVE will turn off automatically after 20 seconds or
after confirmation through pressing the button. If an error occurs, the equipment is not ready to use until
the error was fixed and a system check without error was conducted successfully.
For troubleshooting, notice the explanations and actions in section 3.6.2 & 3.6.3.

3.8 Applying the Equipment

After the installation of the filter, performance of the functional testing, and connection of the headboard,
the equipment can be applied. Read the instruction manual of the headboard as well as all instruction
manuals of the parts you are using carefully before applying the equipment.
- Put on the blower and adjust the belt so that the blower fits safe and comfortably.
- Switch on the blower.
- Put on the headboard.
- Make sure that the breathing tube runs along your back and is not twisted (see fig. 7). Notice that the
Smartblower is screwed in the mask directly when using a full-face mask!
3.9 Remove of the Equipment
Leave the contaminated area before you remove the equipment.
- Take off the headboard.
- Turn off the blower.
- Loosen the belt and take off the blower.
The equipment has to be cleaned and controlled after use (see section 4 Maintenance)
4. Maintenance
The person responsible for cleaning and maintenance of the equipment has to be trained accordingly and
has to be very familiar with these tasks.

4.1 Cleaning / Disinfection

4.1.1 Cleaning
Standard detergent can be used for daily care. Dilute detergent with lukewarm water and wipe the parts
that need cleaning. Carefully remove heavy pollution with a soft brush. After that, wipe the individual parts
dry with a clean cloth and let them dry. The same procedure has to be applied for the breathing tube of the
used headboard.
4.1.2 Disinfection
The following disinfectants are recommended: PM Desk or Curacid PSA Ultra. Dilute disinfectants with lu-
kewarm water (see mixing ration imprint of bottle) and wipe the parts that need cleaning. Carefully remove
heavy pollution with a soft brush. After that, wipe the individual parts dry with a clean cloth and let them
dry. The same procedure has to be applied for the breathing tube of the used headboard.
Important! It is not allowed to use solvents (e.g. acetone, turpentine) or bleach (perborate, percarbonate),
hot water, compressed air, pressurised water for cleaning.

4.2 Storage

Store the equipment after cleaning at a dry and clean place, protected from direct sunlight, at temperatu-
res between -10 and +40 °C and relative humidity (RH) of 70%. When storing ready-for-use equipment, it is
recommended to store it in closed boxes or cabinets, protected against dust, light, and steam of chemical
substance and as far away as possible from heat sources. A properly stored, unused blower is operates
perfectly even after long time of storage.

4.3 Maintenance of the Equipment

The plan provides the minimum requirements for the maintenance routine, to ensure that you always have
functioning equipment.
