paper sizes such as letters or credit cards receipts, insert them into the middle of the shredding
slot – otherwise automatic operation will not start.
Please ensure that never more than the above-mentioned maximum quantity is inserted in the
shredder. Otherwise the device may sustain damage.
Protection against paper jams and overloading:
GENIE 500SB is equipped with a motor overload protection guard. The normal work cycle for
the shredding operation is 2 minutes with a maximum load at last, so the machine should have
a break for 60 minutes. Under the following conditions, the power supply will be interrupted to
the shredder:
1. Continual operation of the document shredder with maximum capacity for a prolonged
period of time, e.g. longer than 2 minutes without interruption.
2. Overloading the shredding capacity e.g. adding more than 5 sheets of paper (80g) in one
operation or in the event that the paper is not inserted length-wise into the feed slot and
inserted in lateral direction.
Under the above-mentioned conditions, the automatic overload guard of the motor is triggered,
where upon the current feed to the device is interrupted. In such a case, please take the
following steps:
1. Unplug the power cord from the AC outlet and wait at least 60 minutes for the overload
protection to reset .Tear or cut off any excess paper from the top of the shredder.
2. Reconnect the mains plug to the AC socket and set the switch to the REV position. The
excess paper will be ejected again. Disconnect the mains plug again and then remove the
remaining paper from the shredding blades. Afterwards, set the switch back to the
ON/AUTO position. If necessary, repeat the steps.
3. Locate the swich to "ON/AUTO" position to continue the normal operation of shredding.

Cleaning and Maintenance of the equipment shredder:

Paper shredder: The cutting part of the shredder is maintenance-free. Please do not
apply shredder oil or other oil to this shredder. The cutting part can be cleaned by
simple object for paper residue. The equipment should be wiped with a dry cloth. Do
not use sharp or inflammable cleaning agents.

Waste-paper basket: Please regularly clear the waste paper basket. A full basket
disturbs the function of the equipment. The waste paper basket can be easily cleaned
with damp cloth.
Note: Please disconnect the power plug from power supply before cleaning.
