• During first use, a small amount of smoke and faint smell might occur.
• Burn hazard! Be careful when handling hot oil and fat. Beware of spitting oil and hot steam!
• Do not move the appliance during use.
• Due to safety reasons, if the control unit is removed from the bench casing, the barbecue must not be
switched on.
• The appliance must not be moved while in use.

BEFORE FIRST USE

• Remove all packaging.
• Clean the appliance, as described in CLEANING AND CARE.
• Switch the barbecue on for 5 - 10 minutes without food on it before first use, so that possible production
residues are removed. During that time, a smell might occur but this is not a defect of the appliance.

OPERATION

• Lift the barbecue grill (1). Next, remove the control unit (3) from the bench casing (7) towards the top.
Pull it back together with the heating element (2) and remove it.
• Fill the bench casing with cold water to approximately 20 mm over the bench casing button. Place the
drip tray (6) on the water. If the water level drops during use, replace the water. While doing so, make
absolutely certain that no water reaches the element.
• Place the element and the control unit on the bench casing in the opposite order to that described
above. It is important that the control unit is placed correctly into the groove of the control unit (8). The
safety switch (in brown colour) must be fully pushed in for this. Otherwise, the appliance can not be
switched on.
• Place the barbecue grill on top of the bench casing. There are three basic
positions available for barbecuing. Place the barbecue grill into the opening
(12) for a low barbecue position, to the opening (13) into the middle barbecue
position or into the opening (11) for a high position. In addition, also take note
to the table below. Basically, the higher the barbecue grill position, the lower the
intensity of the heat on the food. If the position is changed, always switch off the
barbecue first and only touch the barbecue grill on its handles.
Attention! The barbecue grill never must come into contact with the element.
• Connect the power plug (10) to a suitable outlet.
• The appliance takes approximately 10 - 15 minutes to heat up before barbecuing. Turn the rotary
switch 0 - MAX (5) to MAX position. The operation indicator (4) will flash, at the same time the heating
element will start to heat up.
• Now the food can be placed on the barbecue grill. Deep frozen food should be defrosted completely
before barbecuing.
• To grill food evenly, it should be turned several times during the barbecue. The barbecuing time
depends on the food to be grilled.
• you can adjust the temperature with the rotating switch position 0 - MAX (straight over 0 = low
temperature, MAX = very high temperature) Use this function, for example, if you want to keep
barbecue food warm. As soon as the preset temperature is reached, the operation indicator goes off.
• Caution! To avoid a heat accumulation, do not place aluminium foil or other barbecue accessories on
the barbecue grill.
• To switch off the barbecue, turn the rotary switch 0 - MAX to position 0 and unplug the power cord from
outlet.
• The warming grill, the barbecue grill, the heating element and the control unit must be removed only
after the appliance has cooled down completely.
• Burn hazard! If for any reason, the barbecue must be moved when it is still hot, always hold the
barbecue only by its heat-insulated handles (9) and move it slowly.
Cooking time
This table shows some guiding values for the cook time of different barbecue food. The barbecue time
can vary according to personal taste and the thickness of the meat.
