1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the breather hose from the air box. (Fig. 1)
3. Undo the bolt that secures the air box to the vehicle. (Fig. 2)
4. Carefully pull the air box from its mounting grommets.
5. Undo the hose clamp and remove the intake hose from the throttle body. (Fig. 3)
6. Unclip and remove the intake tube from the air box. (Fig. 4)
7. Remove the complete air box from the vehicle. (Fig. 5)
8. Remove the intake tube from the vehicle as shown. (Fig. 6)
9. Unscrew the intake hose from the air box. (Fig. 7)
10. Fit the intake hose to adaptor using the original screws. (Fig.8)
11. Fit the intake assembly into the new air box base. (Fig.9) Make sure the adaptor is completely
pushed in; air box flange and adaptor surface should line up. (Wrong; fig.10, correct; fig.11)
12. Using 85-6000: Carefully expand the flexi cold air hose assembly and pierce/drill 2 holes in one
of the plastic ends.
13. Using 85-6000: Depending on the model, feed the hose down to the under tray or grille and
secure it with a plastic cable tie. It may be necessary to trim the flexi cold air hose. (Fig. 12)
14. Using 85-6000: Feed the other end of the flexible cold air hose into the air box base. (Fig.13)
15. Fit the new air box base onto the original air box support brackets, make sure the nubs of the
air box support brackets fit into the rubber grommets of the new air box base. (Fig. 14)
16. Secure the new air box base onto the battery tray using the bolt removed earlier in step 3.
17. Refit the intake hose onto the throttlebody using the original hose clamp removed in step 5.

18. Fit the filter onto the rubber adaptor using the large hose clamp supplied.(Fig. 16)
19. Refit the breather hose onto the breather pipe as shown. (Fig. 17)
20. Make sure that all parts are mounted correct, then fit the new air box lid onto the air box using
the 4 screws supplied. (Fig. 18)
21. Refit the negative battery terminal.

NOTE: In case of 1.2TSI/1.4TSI engines K&N
recommends to use the flexible hose kit, part
number 85-6000, available from your K&N dealer.

WARNING:
engine carry out a final fitment
check of the K&N performance air
box. It will be necessary to check
the air box periodically for
realignment, clearance and
tightening of all connections. Failure
to follow the above instructions or
proper maintenance may void the
warranty.
FILTER MAINTENANCE: K&N
suggests checking the filter
periodically for excessive dirt build-
up. When the element becomes
covered in dirt (or once a year),
service it according to the
instructions on the Recharger
service kit available from your K&N
dealer, part number 99-5003EU
