Important
Never put your AQV system in direct or indirect sunlight or in a warm spot. If you do this a
green algae scum can develop on the stones and filters.
Filling
Do not fill the upper tank with more water than
fits in the lower tank. This prevents an overflow
of the lower tank.
How to tap water
To tap water you press against the bracket.
Do not pull the bracket towards you during the
tap in order to prevent damage to the mecha-
nism.
Water taste
When you start using the water system or
when changing the filters, it is possible that
the water has a slightly different taste. If this
has an earthy/mineral taste it indicates that
you have not rinsed your stones or the multi-
layer filter sufficiently. It usually disappears
once you have used it a few times. If the water
has a bit of a greasy/soapy taste, it is caused
by the pH ring. This will also disappear after
a few times using the filter. If it persists you
can put the pH ring and/or mineral stones in
a bowl of water. If after a while you can still
taste it, renew the water again and repeat the
abovementioned procedure until the water has
a neutral taste. Then put the pH ring/mineral
stones back in the lower tank.
Going away on holiday
If you are going away for a few days, it is bet-
ter to leave the lower tank completely filled
with water. However, if you are going away for
a longer period of time, you should empty both
tanks and put the multi-layer filter and pH ring
(in the alkaline version) wet in a plastic bag in
the fridge. You can then safely keep it for 6
months.

Algae
Watch out for algae. It usually starts with little
green spots which then tend to increase with
time.
What to do if the system has algae growth
Empty the lower tank. Visible algae on the
stones can be removed under running water
using a brush or soft scouring pad.
Then boil the stones in a pan for about 15
minutes. Add a teaspoon of salt to the water.
The pH/Cormac ring can only be rinsed under
running water and is then brushed off. It must
NEVER be put in boiling water.
Fill the lower tank with 1/3 lukewarm water
and add a dash of natural vinegar. Using a soft
cloth (to prevent scratching) wipe the inside of
the tank, the outside of the filter and the pH
ring and/or Cormac ring (AQV18).
When finished, run the water mixture through
the tap to remove any traces left behind.
When this process is completed, rinse the
system through the tap to remove traces in
the tap.
