Ported Trunk Box Sub's
Congratulations on your purchase of this SPECTRON
subwoofer system.
Please read and follow the operating and adjustment
instructions for this trunk box subwoofer model given
below carefully, to obtain best possible sound quality
and performance from this product.
PLACEMENT OF BOX
This ported bass box model is designed and engineered to be placed in the trunk of the car, to render full bass output and good
low end performance.
CONNECTION OF SPEAKER TERMINAL
Connect the stripped speaker cables to the 5-way screw terminal binding posts.
ACOUSTICAL IN-PHASE RESPONSE
Make sure that the low-pass function of the headunit or the amplifier driving the subwoofer is activated (set the crossover
function switch to „LP" or „LPF"). The lowpass cut off frequency point should be set to approximately 80 Hz, to determine
in-phase response of satellite speakers with the subwoofer.
Empirically test the best sounding connection polarity of your subwoofer. This is carried out by connecting the speaker wire to
the terminal binding posts either electrically "in-phase" or with reversed polarity. One out of the two possible connections to the
amp will give you a fuller, "fatter" and more dynamic reproduction of the upper bass range! Of course, you need to listen to the
resulting bass quality and level on the driver's seat with all doors and the trunk closed, to find the better polarity setting giving
you more bass.
The final adjustments center around the exact lowpass crossover frequency point that gives tightest bass - and the input level gain
setting to achieve a good blend of bass from the sub with the satallite speakers. Just fiddle with both controls on the amp driving
the sub until you find settings, that render best sonic performance. In general, the lowpass crossover frequency should be set in
between 65 to 85 Hz.
