MAINTENANCE
Prior to each use it is important to check that all screws are tightened. Check that the wheels roll
properly and that the bearings are in good condition. If the bearings or other parts are worn out,
replace them with new ones before you use the skates. To ensure the safety of the product, only use
STIGA original spare parts.
• Please rotate the bearings and wheels to see whether they are workable, and do some
adjustments or add lubricant if it's needed after the first 2 week's use.
• The wheels and wheel bearings may become worn out after regular use and can be changed
easily. A special key, available in most tool shops, can be used to remove the ball bearings.
Clean the ball bearings using a clean, dry cloth. Lubricate the bearings if necessary.
• The most important thing to learn is how to stop on your new pair of inline skate. Locate a flat and
open area to practice stopping. Start your glide by moving into the extended length stance with
the right skate forward; shift your body weight to the left skate to lower your center of gravity,
balancing your hands on your knees. Lift up your right skate and it will apply pressure on the
brake to stop. Practice several times and gradually increase your speed. Try to anticipate braking
and the higher speed, the greater braking distance. Check the brake pad regularly and replace if
necessary.
• Trucks: Deciding how tight to tighten the trucks is a personal choice. Looser trucks are more
flexible but harder to control at higher speed and tighter trucks will increase stability but reduce
flexibility. To adjust the trucks simply loosen or tighten the kingpin bolt on your trucks. When
using loose trucks please ensure that they are tight enough to not disassemble during use.
