OVEN TYPE DESCRIPTION (cont)
II.
CAUTION
ALWAYS DISCONNECT POWER BEFORE ATTEMPTING
ELECTRICAL ChANGES
Adjustments - Motor
The correct direction of rotation of the motor is necessary for
proper operation of the blower. The correct direction of rota-
tion is counter-clockwise when viewed from the front (inside).
(Also see the arrow on the motor housing).
ROTATION DURING INITIAL START UP. If rotation is incor-
rect, turn the main disconnect switch off and interchange
motor leads #5 and #8. This will reverse the direction of
motor rotation.
Blowers should be visually inspected periodically for physi-
cal damage, balance and freedom of rotation.
NOTE: When operating this oven on a 50Hz power supply,
the blower motor will run 16% slower than its rated RPM.
This difference in the motor speed will not appreciably affect
the oven performance.
- Controller
If any adjustments are required, they should be done by a
qualified person with the aid of the instructions contained in
this manual or the Original Factory Setting Guide (available
upon request from Phoenix International, Inc.). All instru-
ments are fully tested and adjusted for optimum performance
just prior to shipping the oven. If the settings are lost for
some reason, contact Phoenix International Inc. for the PID
Original Factory Setting Guide.
- Air Exhaust Dampener
The exhaust damper has been preset at the factory to permit
a partial air change. With this setting, the greater portion of
air in the oven will re-circulate, thus the heat loss through air
exhausting will be kept to a minimum. It may be desired,
however, to increase the amount of air change in order to
drive out moist air more rapidly. This is accomplished by
re-setting the exhaust damper.
- heating Elements
Replacement heating elements should be the exact rating as
the ones installed. Check Repair Parts Illustration for part
number.
To replace heating elements:
1. Place main line safety switch "OFF".
2. Remove heating element cover.
CHECK
3. Disconnect lead wires at heating elements. Re-mark if
necessary, to prevent connecting new heater incorrectly.
4. Remove individual elements and replace.
5. Reverse above procedure.
Guide to Storage
In the absence of detailed storage information from your
electrode manufacturer, the "Revised Guide To Electrode
Storage" (available from Phoenix International, Inc.) may be
used as an indication of approximate temperatures. For
Specific information involving critical operations be sure to
contact your electrode/flux manufacturer for complete infor-
mation.
Warning
Excess Heat: At the maximum setting, the actual tempera-
ture in portions of the oven near the heating elements may
exceed the upper range.
Repair - Spare Parts
Enclosed with these instructions are wiring diagrams and a
repair parts list for your oven. For critical welding operations
requiring continuous holding we would suggest carrying all
of the parts listed in the "Suggested Spare Parts Section" of
these instructions.
