or damage to equipment or other property. Only accessories and peripherals
specifically approved by MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC may be used. Any other use or
application of the products is deemed to be improper.

Description
Base unit connector:
Used to connect the board to a PLC base unit
Connector cover:

Remove this cover for connecting a memory cassette or a display
module FX -5DM.

Direct mounting hole:
2 holes of 3.2 mm diameter (Two 3 mm tapping screws are sup-
plied with the expansion board)
Eight potentiometers:
These potentiometers can be used to adjust analog set points.
Connector:
Used to connect a memory cassette or a display module FX
Potentiometer Configuration
To read the set value of a potentiometer, a VRRD or VRSC instruction with the
number of the corresponding potentiometer is used.

A VRRD instruction converts the analog value of the potentiometer into a
numeric value in the range from 0 to 255.

A VRSC instruction converts the analog value of the potentiometer into a
numeric value in the range from 0 to 10.

Cut off all phases of the power source externally before starting the
removed
installation or wiring work, thus avoiding electric shock or damages to

described in the Hardware manual. Never use the product in areas
with dust, oily smoke, conductive dusts, corrosive or flammable gas,
vibrations or impacts, or expose it to high temperature, condensa-
tion, or wind and rain.

b When drilling screw holes or wiring, cutting chips or wire chips should

Applicable PLC
An expansion board of the MELSEC FX series can be combined with a PLC of

the MELSEC FX , FX or FX series.

Only one FX -8AV-BD can be used per base unit.

Connection to the PLC
Shown below is the connection to a FX base unit. The assembly to a FX
3G
FX 3S base unit is analogously carried out.

Attach the provided side cover
(right fig. "C").
Make sure the expansion board is in parallel with the base unit and fix it to
the connector of the base unit.
Fix the expansion board to the base unit using the 3 mm tapping screws
provided with the board . The tightening torque is 0.3 to 0.6 Nm.
