Before You Begin

• Follow basic electrical safety precautions to protect yourself from harm and to
protect the appliance from damage.
• Install the appliance to a 19-inch rack or place it in a stable location.
• Verify the package content for your appliance type as listed in the table below:
1. Security Appliance

3. External Power Supply
4. Ethernet Standard Cable (grey)
5. Serial Cable (console)
6. USB Thumb Drive

Initial Connection

NextGen Firewall F18, F8x, F18x, F280, F380, and F400
• Connect port 1 of your Barracuda NextGen Firewall F-Series to your
management PC and port 4 to your DHCP WAN conenction.
• Both the management PC and the firewall must have access to the Internet.
• Connect and power on the Barracuda NextGen Firewall F-Series and wait 3-5
minutes until it fully boots.
