User Guide
l
The IQ-MX40 can control four channels of Microbeam, IQ250 or
IQ500 lighting. The number of lanterns on each channel is
unlimited.
l
The IQ-MX40 controls the pattern drawn by the lantern, the
speed that it moves, its response to sound and its colour and
gobo.
l
The IQ-MX40 also produces a number of colour change
patterns, allowing the colours on the four channels to be
random, synchronised or chased, making a total of 256
different program selections.
l
The IQ-MX40 can also control Datamoon, Super Blitzer and
Predator.
Connect the IQ-MX40 to the mains supply with the lead provided:
l
Brown = Live
l
Blue = Neutral
l
Green/Yellow = Earth
l
The IQ-MX40 must be earthed.
If sound activated operation is required, connect a sound signal, either
0dBm from the line level output of a mixer, or the speaker output from an
amplifier, connect the tip of the jack to the signal, and the sleeve to
amplifier earth, reversal of the connections to the sound input may damage
your amplifier, as it connects the output to earth throught the mains earth
of the IQ-MX40. Great care must be taken not to connect the sound input
into the DMX output as this may destroy the internal electronics (the
DMX-line driver).
Connect the DMX output from the IQ-MX40 to the DMX input of the
nearest lantern. Use a cable recommended for RS-485 data use at
250kbaud, or a good quality screened-twisted-pair cable.
Termination of the DMX-line is performed automatically by the IQ-MX40
and the lantern.
The DMX address switches should be set as shown overleaf:
