4. Operating instructions
4.1 Unpacking and inspection
1. Carefully remove the appliance and the accessories from the packaging.
2. Check package contents for completeness and damage. Do not operate the
appliance if package contents is incomplete or appear damaged. Return it
immediately to the dealer.
3. Dispose of packaging material in accordance with legal provisions.
4. Store the packaging material if you want to use it to pack, ship or transport the
appliance. Store it in such a way that it cannot cause harm.
WARNING - Risk of suffocation! Packaging materials are not toys. Plastic
bags, foils and Styrofoam parts can suffocate children. Always keep all
packaging materials away from children.
4.2 Dry boil protection
1. The appliance is equipped with a dry boil protection, which circumvents damages
to the appliance, if the appliance runs dry or if you accidently forgot to fill it
with water.
NOTE: Increased use of the dry boil function reduces the product life span.
2. If the dry boil protection is applied, the appliance switches off automatically
and the On-/Off-switch 0/I (4) jumps into the position 0 (off) automatically.
Remove the mains plug (6) from the mains socket and leave the appliance for
30 minutes (depending on ambient temperature).
NOTE: During this period, the On-/Off-switch 0/I (4) cannot be placed
in the position I (on).
3. After the time has passed, remove the water tank (11) from the base (7) before
placing it back on the base (7). Return the appliance back into operation.
4.3 Before first use
1. Unwrap the power cord (6) completely from the cable storage (8) on the bottom
of the appliance.
2. Before using the appliance for the first time, clean all parts that come into
contact with water, as described in chapter 5. Cleaning and care.
