3 Application
The sequential switch for monitoring cameras, TVS-
80A, with eight camera inputs and eight alarm inputs
has been designed for application in monitoring and
alarm systems. With the sequential switch, video sig-
nals from up to eight cameras can be manually or auto-
matically switched to the output. The switching inter-
vals in the automatic switching mode can be adjusted
from 1 to 15 seconds.
4 Connecting Cameras and other Units
The sequential switch for monitoring cameras must
always be switched off when connections to other units
are made or changed.
1) Connect up to eight cameras to the BNC input jacks
VIDEO INPUT 1 – 8 (12). The numbers of the input
jacks are assigned to the numbers of the toggle
switches (1), i. e. toggle switch 1 for input 1 etc.
2) Connect the monitor to the BNC output jack VIDEO
OUTPUT (11).
3) For optimum monitoring, one input for an alarm
sensor is provided for each camera channel (e. g.
motion detector in the respective coverage area).
However, to use the basic functions of TVS-80A, it
is not necessary to connect them. If required,
connect the alarm sensors (with NO contact) to the
terminal strip (9) acc. to fig. 3.
4) If an alarm is triggered via a connected alarm sen-
sor, the internal alarm relay responds. Via the
contacts (8) of the relay it is possible to connect e.g.
alarm signal device or a video recorder which auto-
matically starts recording in case of an alarm.
Connect the corresponding unit to the connections
COM and NC (Normally Closed) or COM and NO
(Normally Open). A load of 30 V /2 A must not be
exceeded.
5) Finally connect the mains plug to the mains socket
(230 V~/50 Hz).

5 Operation

Switch on the sequential switch for monitoring cam-
eras with the POWER switch (5). The red LED (4)
lights up to indicate operation.
5.1 Automatic switching mode
In the automatic switching mode, the pictures of the
camera inputs (12) are successively displayed on the
monitor in switching intervals to be adjusted. The
camera inputs are passed through in the sequence 1
to 8. The camera channel currently switched on is indi-
cated by the control LED above the corresponding
toggle switch (1).
1) Set the toggle switches of the camera channels to
be displayed in the automatic switching mode to
position AUTO. Set the toggle switches of the
camera channels which are not connected or which
are to be skipped to position BYPASS.
2) Adjust the desired switching interval between 1 and
15 seconds with the RUN TIME control (2).
5.2 Manual selection of the cameras
1) To display a camera picture as permanent picture
on the monitor, set the corresponding toggle switch
(1) of the camera input to position HOME. The con-
trol LED above the toggle switch lights up.
2) To switch to a different camera, set the toggle
switch from position HOME back to its initial posi-
tion (AUTO or BYPASS) and set the corresponding
toggle switch of the desired camera input to position
HOME.
Note: Always set only one switch to the position
HOME. If several switches are set to the position
HOME, the camera picture with the lowest number is
displayed as permanent picture.
5.3 Alarm functions
If alarm sensors are connected to the terminal strip (9)
and one of these sensors triggers an alarm, the fol-
lowing functions are activated according to the position
of the toggle switch ALARM (3):
OFF (lower switch position)
All alarm functions are switched off.
ON (central switch position)
All alarm functions are switched on:
1. The internal alarm buzzer sounds. Set the alarm
duration between 3 and 50 seconds with the
ALARM TIME control (10).
2. For the adjusted alarm duration, the camera chan-
nel is selected of which the sensor has triggered an
alarm.
3. The internal alarm relay responds for the adjusted
alarm duration and activates the connected units.
BUZZER OFF (upper switch position)
The alarm buzzer is switched off, however, the other
alarm functions are active.
