GENERAL SAFETy INSTRUCTIONS

Read these instructions carefully. Save these instructions for future reference.
• Before plugging the appliance into the mains socket, ensure that the voltage shown on the rating plate matches the local
voltage supply. The data plate is applied on the rear side of the appliance next to the on-off switch.
• Always plug the appliance into an earthed socket-outlet (Schuko).
• Check on a regular basis that the power cord is not damaged.
• Do not use the steam iron if the power cord, plug or appliance is damaged.
• An Authorised Service Centre or someone with similar qualification must repair and replace the power cable. Use original
power cords only.
• Immediately switch off the appliance in case of operational faults and electrical failures. Contact an Authorised Service
Centre or person with similar qualification. Never try to repair the applicance on your own.
• Do not pull the power cord to unplug the appliance.
• Never leave the appliance unattended when it is connected to the power supply.
• Store the appliance only when it has completely cooled down.
• Do not immerse the appliance in water or other liquids.
• Make sure that the power cord is unplugged from the socket before cleaning the appliance with filling and emptying the
boiler.
• Use the cap unscrewer accessory to unscrew the safety cap.
• Before loosening the safety cap, check that there is no steam in the boiler. Steam comes out of the boiler when you turn
the steam adjustment knob or press the iron steam button. If while opening the safety cap you hear a hiss, immediately
retighten it. Never try to open the safety cap to pour water inside while the appliance is in operation. Contact with steam
can cause burns.
• If the appliance has fallen, or if it has been knocked for some other reason, the appliance may have sustained damage
inside. In this case, have the appliance checked by an Authorised Service Centre or by a person with similar qualification.
• The appliance has been designed for home use only and must not be used for commercial or industrial purposes.
• Use a 10 ampere (Europe) cable if an extension cord is absolutely necessary. Cords rated for less amperage may over-
heat. The appliance must be used and left in its stand-by position on a horizontal and steady surface.
• Remember that not all Teflon fabrics can be ironed. The same is true for leather, rugs, pillows and silicon-based fabrics.
• Only an Authorised Service Centre or a person with similar qualification can replace spare parts.
• Keep the appliance out of the reach of children.
• The iron and power cord must be kept out of the reach of children under the age of 8 when plugged in and while cooling
down.
Information
• When the appliance is used the first time, some smoke and drops of water may come out; This transitory effect is perfectly
normal and is due to the fact that some of components have been slightly lubricated.
• When using the iron for the first time, try it on an old piece of cloth to test that the soleplate is perfectly clean.
• Before using the iron for the first time, thoroughly rinse with warm water.
• It is recommended to use an ironing board with a possibly closed (not perforated) surface and to place a soft support
under the ironing cover (sheet, quilt or towel); in this way the jet of steam is reflected and there are no heat losses. Reinold
Deluxe® ironing board covers with extra strong felt padding (153 x 50 cm) are also recommended. They are offered to our
customers at a reduced price on an exclusive basis.
