Connecting the Poles and Head Section
Failure to securely assemble and lock all poles together as directed above could cause the poles to separate and could result in
serious personal injury or death. Do not perform this operation with the battery attached.
• Unlock the head section locking lever (9) by lifting upwards, (Fig.3). Ensure the telescopic section locking lever (5) is in the
locked position to prevent the pole moving whilst being connected.
• Insert the head connector (4) into the socket on the head section and push together until the locking tabs are fully seated,
(Fig.4).
• Lock the poles together by closing the head section locking lever (9) (Fig.5).
• When assembled correctly, the cutting head should not be able to separate from the telescopic section pole when pulled.
Repeat above steps if pole can be separated from intermediate pole.
Fitting the Guide Bar and Chain
• Remove the chain cover knob, (Fig.16), by turning it in an anti-clockwise direction.
• Place the chain cover knob to one side.
• Take the guide bar and place the chain in the groove so that the silver cutting teeth face in the correct direction.
• The guide bar contains a slot, Fig.20 (A) that fits over the mounting post, Fig.20 (B). The bar also contains a chain tensioning
pin hole, Fig.20 (C) which fits over the chain tensioning pin, Fig.20 (D).
• The location of the chain tensioning pin can be moved by turning the chain tensioning screw (Fig. 17) with the hexagon key.
• Place the bar and onto the mounting post and chain tensioning pin – and the chain around the drive sprocket. Fig. 20 (F)
• If necessary, rotate the chain tensioning screw (Fig. 17) anti-clockwise until the pin and hole can be aligned with the chain
around the sprocket.
• Replace the chain cover and lightly tighten the chain cover knob.
• The guide bar must be free to move for tension adjustment.
• Remove all slack from chain by turning the chain tensioning screw clockwise with the hexagon key.
• Tighten the chain cover knob securely.
• INCORRECTLY TENSIONED CHAIN (FIG. 18) The chain is incorrectly tensioned when the chain slack.
