for mechanical fuel pump

1.
Disconnect the negative battery post.
2.
Carefully dismantle the screw connection on the fuel inlet and out
let in order to release the residual pressure in the fuel line (please
keep an appropriate container at hand to collect fuel that might
drain out of the fuel line).
3.
Loosen and remove the securing nuts on the pump body.
4.
If there is a distance spacer between engine block and fuel pump,
remove it and replace it with the provided stud bolt.
5.
Assemble the new pump in reverse order and make use of the
new gasket(s).
6.
In case of lever type mechanical fuel pumps, make sure that the
lever is located on the right side of the cam drive.
7.
When screwing on the pipe connections, do not tilt the thread as
it might get damaged. Install the screw connections before moun-
ting the fuel pump on the pump body.
8.
Take off the low pressure cable of the ignition coil and turn the
engine a few times, to build up pressure in the system and pay
attention to fuel leakage.
9.
When none of the connections is leaking, reconnect the coil
and run the engine.
