Using the Mini-drill:

GETTING STARTED

1. Insert three AAA batteries into the battery compartment of the
mini-drill (see Battery Installation and Instructions in this guide).
2. Help your child snap the bit
into the mini-drill.
3. Point out the two positions
of the power switch —
forward and reverse. Let your
child experiment with the
different positions.
4. Place one of the bolts into
a hole in the workbench
and have the child use the
forward position of the drill
to screw in the bolt.
5. Demonstrate to the child
how to use the drill's reverse
position to remove the bolt.
Hammer
Mini-drill
USING THE HAMMER
1. Set one of the nails into a
hole in the workbench and have
the child hammer the nail into
place. (Note: The nail is designed
with a stopper/spacer so that it
can be easily removed with the
hammer.)
2. Demonstrate to the child how
to use the claw on the back of
the hammer to pry out the nail
from the workbench.
PATTERNS
Before presenting the patterns, encourage your child to play
freely — using bolts and nails randomly, or creating simple patterns
and pictures. When you feel your child is ready to work with the
patterns in this guide, choose one of the simple patterns. Place it next
to the board to practice and develop matching skills. Encourage your
child to pay close attention to the relative positions of the bolts and
nails by counting the number of blank holes.
Tip: Cleanup is easy! Store your bolts and nails in the workbench
drawer and insert the two tools into the slots in the workbench.
