3. Initial commissioning

3.1 Inspection and operating instructions

The inappropriate use of electrical devices, in particular animal breeding devices, is dangerous!
Therefore, observe the following, accident prevention measures before starting the machine:
• Never switch the machine on without properly mounted cutting tips • The voltage stated on the nameplate
must match the mains voltage • Avoid all contact with the moving shearing blades • Only place the machine
on dry surfaces and store in a dry location • Avoid all contact with a machine that is in contact with liquids .
Never shear wet animals . Liquid ingress into the machine reduces the electrical insulation . Only clean the ma-
chine with a dry cloth and a brush or paintbrush • Switch the machine off before changing the battery pack
• Do not use damaged shear blades with broken off teeth . Only use sharp shear blades . Only use the original
shear blades • Never insert an item into an opening of the machine . The machine noise can disturb animals .
A kick or the weight of the animal can result in substantial injuries . Therefore fixate the animal sufficiently
• Animals should only be clipped, when unauthorised persons do not have access to the clipping location •
Only clip in well-ventilated rooms and never in the proximity of explosive materials .
These safety notes must be observed in all cases!

3.2. Choosing the correct shearing blade

• only use „Snap-on" blade systems . These are available from various manufacturers and can be ordered
easily via the Kerbl dealer network .
• note the information on the shearing blades for which type of animal, breed, type and length of fur they
are suitable .
3.3. Cleaning the shearing blades
• remove the battery before starting work . Push the
unlocking button underneath the shearing plates on the
back of the device and press the blades carefully
backwards .
• clean the entire shearing head, including the blades, af-
ter each use, even if they were only used for a short time .
Brush between the teeth with the brush supplied and
polish the blades with a clean, soft cloth .
• do not use any water or solvents; we recommend e .g . CleanSpray from Kerbl (#18951)
• dispose of hair and other fine particles between the blades carefully, otherwise the shearing result will
not be as good as it should be .

3.4. Removing and replacing the shearing blades

• remove the battery before starting work . Push the unlok-
king button underneath the shearing plates on the back
of the device and press the blades carefully backwards .
• to insert new shearing blades, push them onto the metal
retaining plate and push them against the machine .
Ensure that the plastic pin engages precisely in the blade
cut-out intended for this .
A clear „engaging sound" should be heard .
