Ethernet PoE Injector
Item-No. 97 52 27

Intended Use

The product is used to supply a network cable with a d.c. voltage of 48 V dc, so the cable thereby
can power an appropriate device (max. rated power approx. 25-30 W).
By means of a PoE splitter that can be acquired separately (e.g. Conrad order no. 975229), the
d.c. voltage of 48 V dc can also be taken from the network cable to supply conventional network
devices that are not PoE-compatible.
Always observe the safety instructions and all other information included in these operating
instructions.
This product complies with the applicable National and European requirements. All names of

Safety Instructions

The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe
these safety instructions! We do not assume any liability for any consequen-
tial damage!
We do not accept liability for damage to property or personal injury caused by
improper handling or non-compliance with the safety instructions! The war-
ranty will be null and void in such cases.
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is inadmissible
because of safety and approval reasons (CE). Never dismantle the product.
• The product is only intended for use in dry, indoor locations. No part of the product
should be allowed to become moist or wet, never take hold of it if your hands are
wet!
With the power adaptor/power cable there is also a risk of a potentially fatal elect-
ric shock!
• Do not expose the product to extremes of temperature (<0°C or >+50°C), direct
sunlight, vibration or humidity.
• The product is not a toy. Keep devices that operate on the mains voltage out of the
reach of children! Therefore, be especially careful when children are around.
Use the product where it is out of the reach of children.
• Only use the PoE injector using the enclosed power adaptor.
• Do not pull the power plug from the mains socket by pulling on the cable.
• If the power adaptor or the power cable is damaged, do not touch it; there is a risk
of a potentially fatal electric shock!
Switch off the mains voltage for the mains socket to which the power adaptor
/power cable is connected to (e.g. switch off at the corresponding circuit breaker
or remove the safety fuse).
Then you can remove the mains plug from the mains socket. Dispose of the damaged
power adaptor/power cable in an environment-friendly way, do not use it any more.
Replace it with a new power adaptor/power cable with the same specifications.
• The design of the power adaptor corresponds to the protection class I. Only use a
standard mains socket with protective earth wire as the voltage source (see chapter
"Technical Data").
• Do not leave packing materials unattended. They may become dangerous play-
things for children.
• Handle the product with care, it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental
drops, even from a low height.

There are two different options for using a network device via PoE, depending on the design of
the network device to be connected
Version 10/10
°
a) Network device with PoE input
The network device has a port, according to the PoE standard IEEE802.3af or IEEE802.3at. In
this case, a PoE splitter is not required.
1 Power cable
2 Power adaptor
3 Low-voltage plug
4 RJ45 network cable (to the network switch, router, PC); connect to the RJ45 input "DATA (IN)"
on the PoE injector
5 PoE Injector
6 RJ45 connection cable (fully wired, 1:1 connected, max. 100 m long) connect to the output,
"POWER+DATA (OUT)", on the PoE Injector
7 Device with PoE input, according to IEEE802.3af, IEEE802.3at
b) Network device without PoE input
In this case, a PoE splitter (e.g. Conrad order no. 975229) must be used to supply the network
device with power. Direct connection is not permitted!
1 Power cable
2 Power adaptor
3 Low-voltage plug
4 RJ45 network cable (to the network switch, router, PC); connect to the RJ45 input "DATA (IN)"
on the PoE injector
5 PoE Injector
6 RJ45 network cable (fully wired, 1:1 connected, max. 100 m long) connect to the output,
"POWER+DATA (OUT)", on the PoE Injector or to the input on the PoE splitter
7 PoE splitter (e.g. Conrad order no. 975229)
8 Low-voltage cable between the PoE splitter and network device (10)
9 Network cable
10 Network device without PoE input, e.g. network switch, router, DSL modem, PC, network
camera or similar

Warning!
This cable (6) is to be connected directly between PoE Injector (5) and the device
with the PoE input (7); it must not be connected to another network device that is not
PoE-compatible (e.g. network switch)!
Warning!
Prior to the start-up, check that the device you want to use really does support ope-
ration via PoE.
If not, the device, as well as the PoE injector, may be damaged!

Attention!
This cable (6) has to be connected directly between the PoE Injector (5) and the PoE
splitter (7); it must not be connected to another network device that is not PoE-com-
patible (e.g. network switch)!
The PoE splitter separates the voltage/current that is applied on RJ45 connection
cable (6) and then provides a "normal" network connection (9) and power connection
(8) to the network device (10).
Thus, a PoE splitter is always to be used if your network device is not PoE-compatible.
You can set an output voltage of 5 V (max. 4 A), 7.5V= (max. 2.7A), 9V= (max. 2.3A)
or 12V= (max. 1.8A) on the PoE splitter with order no. 975229.
