Usable USB devices
The USB server allows any USB devices to be connected and operated. However, some USB
drivers can cause a problem if they request a direct connection via USB.
The software supplied emulates the direct connection; i.e. for most drivers it makes no differ-
ence whether the USB device is operated on the PC itself or via the USB server.
Due to the large number of USB devices, however, there is no guarantee that every USB device
will function on the USB server! In such a case, the USB device must be operated as usual
directly from the USB connection on a PC, not via the USB server.
Power supply for external drive
The supplied mains adapter has an output voltage of 2 A, which means that hard drives, for
example, can also be operated without their own power supply (6.35 cm/2.5 ").
Software
The supplied software must be installed on each PC that is to have access to the USB device
on the USB server.
Please note: it is not possible to access simultaneously two or more PCs on a USB
device connected to a USB server (e.g. USB hard drive), for example. If another PC
is to be able to access the USB device, the existing connection must be severed fi rst,
see Section "Connecting to the USB device".
Password
A password can be used to control access to the connected USB device. No password is as-
signed on delivery (factory setting).
If you forget the password, the USB server can be returned to the factory settings.
Restore factory settings
The USB server can be returned to its factory settings as follows:
Press the counter-sunk "RESET" button e.g. with a toothpick, and hold down for 10 seconds.
The USB server will then be returned to the factory settings and you can release the "RESET"
key. The USB server will then require up to 30 seconds for a restart.
Maintenance and care
The product is maintenance-free. Before carrying out any cleaning, disconnect the product from
all attached devices and remove the mains adapter from the power socket.
Clean the product with a soft, clean and dry cloth. Dust can be easily removed with a soft, clean
brush and a vacuum cleaner.
Never use strong or alcohol-based cleaning agents as these may discolour the casing.
Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the house-
hold waste!
At the end of its service life, dispose of the product according to the relevant
statutory regulations.
