Safety instructions

Read the operating instructions carefully and especially observe the safety
information. If you do not follow the safety instructions and information on
proper handling in this manual, we assume no liability for any resulting
personal injury or damage to property. Such cases will invalidate the
warranty/guarantee.
• The device is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
• Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. These may
become dangerous playing material for children.
• Protect the product from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, strong
jolts, high humidity, moisture, flammable gases, vapours and solvents.
• Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.
• If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of
operation and protect it from any accidental use. Safe operation can no
longer be guaranteed if the product:
- is visibly damaged,
- is no longer working properly,
- has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
- has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses.
• Please handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a
low height can damage the product.
• Also observe the safety and operating instructions of any other devices
which are connected to the product.
• Store the product away from other magnets or magnetic metal parts.
Otherwise the magnet attached at the side of the product could cause an
uncontrolled collision, which then could damage the magnet (fragments,
fragility).
• Keep a suitable distance (at least 1 m) to other appliances and objects that
could get destroyed or impaired in their functionality (e.g. magnetic strips,
EC cards, floppy-disks, identifiers, hard drives, computers, monitors,
meters, etc.).
• The magnetic field of the built-in magnet can severely affect the
functionality of pace makers or other medical equipment. Therefore keep
the product away from such appliances.
• Take special care when using magnets in order to avoid injury and
damaging the magnet.
• Keep magnets out of reach of children. Magnets are not suitable for
children.
• The mains socket used for connecting the product must be easy to access.
• Never pull the mains plug from the socket by pulling at the cable. Always
pull it from the mains socket using the intended grips.
• Unplug the mains plug from the mains socket if you do not use the device
for an extended period of time.
• For safety reasons, always unplug the device in case of a thunderstorm.
• Unwrap the power cable fully during use. Do not place any objects on
the cable and do not step on the cable. Lay the cable so that no one can
accidentally trip over it and so that the plug is easily accessible. Do not lay
the cable under rugs, etc.
• Make sure that the mains cable is not squeezed, bent, damaged by sharp
edges or put under mechanical stress. Avoid excessive thermal stress on
the mains cable from extreme heat or cold. Do not modify the mains cable.
Otherwise the mains cable may be damaged. A damaged mains cable can
cause a deadly electric shock.
• Do not touch the mains cable if it is damaged. First, power down the
respective mains socket (e.g. via the respective circuit breaker) and then
carefully pull the mains plug from the mains socket. Never use the product
if the mains cable is damaged.
• To prevent risks, damaged power cables may only be replaced by the
manufacturer, a professional workshop appointed by the manufacturer, or
a similarly qualified person.
• Never plug in or unplug the mains plug when your hands are wet.
• The product features a child safety device. The device will only release
the socket openings, if both pins of a plug are inserted into the socket
simultaneously. Still exercise caution when using the product in the
vicinity of children. Children cannot recognize the hazards posed by
improperly using electric devices. This poses a risk of fatal electric shock!
• Only use a properly installed mains outlet of the public power supply
(230 V/AC, 50 Hz) as a power source.
• Never connect the product to the power supply when it is brought from a
cold room into a warm room (e.g. during transportation). This may cause
condensation, which can destroy the device or lead to electric shock. Let
the product first reach room temperature. Wait until all condensation has
evaporated. Tthis may take several hours. Only now may the product be
connected to the power supply and operated.
• Do not overload the product. Please heed the permissible connected load
specified under technical data.
• Do not connect the product in series! This could result in overloading the
product. This poses a fire hazard! Plug the two-pin grounded plug of the
product directly into a wall socket. Do not connect any other extension
cables or multiple power strips to the product.
• Do not operate the product when covered! Higher connected loads cause
the product to warm up. If covered, this may lead to overheating and even
a fire.
• The product must be unplugged in order to fully disconnect it from the
mains.
• Make sure the product is not live before connecting an appliance.
• Unplug the product under the following conditions:
- before cleaning the product
- in case of a storm
- for extended periods of disuse.
• Never pour liquids above or near the product. This poses a great risk of
fire or fatal injury due to electric shock. In case liquid has entered the
inside of the appliance, immediately switch off the wall socket used for
connecting the product at all poles (fuse/circuit breaker/FI safety switch).
Only then do disconnect the mains plug from the wall socket and contact
an expert. Discontinue use of the product.
• Do not place any objects on or near the product.
• In industrial facilities, heed all applicable accident prevention regulations
for electrical installations and equipment.
• The use of electrical devices must be supervised by trained staff in
schools, training centers, hobby and do-it-yourself workshops.
• Consult an expert when in doubt about operation, safety or connection of
the device.
• Maintenance, modifications and repairs are to be performed exclusively
by an expert or at a qualified shop.
• If you have questions which remain unanswered by these operating
instructions, contact our technical support service or other technical
personnel.
