OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE STREAMLIGHT 18650
BUTTON TOP LI-ION BATTERY CHARGER
• SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS. This document contains important
safety, operating and maintenance information for your charger.
• CAUTION: To reduce risk of fire, electrical shock, or personal injury,
do not attempt to use this charger to recharge other manufacturer's
batteries.
• Do not use a damaged charger.
• Do not place any metal objects onto the charging terminals located in
the charger.
• Do not disassemble or try to repair the charger. Return it to a
qualified service facility or the factory.
• Use only Streamlight 18650 battery P/N 22101. Recycle worn out or
damaged batteries properly.
• CAUTION: To reduce risk of fire, electrical shock, or personal injury,
handle the battery carefully and never allow it to short circuit. Do not
incinerate the battery as it may explode in a fire.
CHARGER
The 18650 Button Top Li-Ion battery charger can charge one or two batteries
at the same time. The charger is equipped with dual power input ports.
The overlapping design prevents both the 5V USB input and the 12VDC
vehicle input to be connected at the same time. An AC/USB adapter with
custom USB cable or custom USB cable only is supplied to attach to the
charger. Place the small micro-USB plug of the custom USB cable (SL logo
up) into the USB connector sleeve (marked with SL logo) that is located on
the base of the charger. The micro-USB plug and connector on the charger
base are keyed and contain a locking feature and will "snap" into place.
Connect the AC/USB power supply to a wall outlet or connect the cord only
model to any other standard, powered USB outlet.
CHARGING
Note: Fully charge batteries before use. The batteries may be stored in the
charger continuously, there is no danger of overcharge.
To charge the 18650 battery, insert it into either battery location in the
charger. Place the negative end of the battery into the spring end of the
charger (polarity is also marked in the battery cradle). The LED below the
negative end of the battery should light to indicate charging has begun.
LED CHARGE INDICATORS
The red LED on the charger housing must light to ensure the battery is
being charged.
• Charging...LED is steady.
• Charged...LED pulses shortly every second.
• Error...LED pulses rapidly. This may be caused by out of range
temperature or input voltage.
• It is normal for the indicator to switch between steady and pulse as
the battery is "topped off".
Charge time is approximately 3.5 hours for one battery or 6.5 hours for two
batteries when using Streamlight AC adapters or 12VDC input. When
charging from a PC or other limited USB power source, charge time may
increase due to reduced power available from the USB power source.
NOTE: When charging two batteries at the same time, the left location has
priority and will complete the charge process first.
IMPORTANT: Maximum charging temperature range is 20°F to 115°F with
optimal temperature range between 50°F and 86°F. A safety circuit
prevents charging outside the maximum range and the red charge LED will
pulse rapidly. When temperature is within an acceptable range charging
will resume.
CHARGER MOUNTING
The charger is designed to rest on a table top. Mounting holes have been
provided for #8 self-tapping screws for optional mounting.
• The charger should never be mounted against any heat sensitive
surface.
• Before drilling mounting holes, make sure there is room to insert and
remove the batteries.
• Two (2) #8 self-tapping screws are required (not included) to mount the
charger. The correct drill size for these screws in sheet metal is 1/8."
Before mounting a Streamlight charger in a vehicle, please read
the following sections
INSTALLATION IN VEHICLES
An optional 12V DC power cord (P/N 22051) equipped with a cigarette plug
is available for mounting a Streamlight charger in a vehicle. The cigarette
plug can be removed and the wires can be attached directly to a power
source for a more permanent installation. (A two amp fuse must be used
on the positive lead.) NOTE: USB input cord must be disconnected from
the charger before attempting to plug in the 12VDC power cord to the
charger.
IMPORTANT: Before making electrical connections in a vehicle, keep in
mind that a shorted auto battery can easily start a fire. Make all
connections with insulated lugs or other connectors intended for such use.
Be sure that your installation is fused.
The striped power lead is positive and the unmarked lead is negative.
When connecting the charger to a fuse block, the striped, positive power
lead goes to the connector that is dead when the vehicle's fuse is removed.
The charger body is electrically isolated from the charge circuit and allows
positive ground installations. The charger is polarity protected, and if
connected in reverse polarity, simply won't operate until connected properly.
Streamlight recommends connecting the charger to an unswitched source
of power to ensure the batteries are always fully charged. If the vehicle
will not be driven for several days, the batteries should be removed from
the charger to avoid vehicle battery drain. Charging two batteries with the
18650 Button Top battery charger will draw about .5 amperes for up to 6.5
hours during charging. The charger will draw less than .01 amperes when
in maintenance mode once the batteries are fully charged.

CARGADOR
El cargador de pilas de botón de ión-litio 18650 puede cargar una o dos
pilas al mismo tiempo. El cargador está equipado con puertos de entrada
de alimentación dobles. El diseño solapado evita que se conecten la
entrada USB de 5 V y la entrada del vehículo de 12 V CA al mismo tiempo.
Se proporciona un adaptador de CA/USB con cable USB a medida o cable
USB a medida solamente para acoplarlo al cargador. Coloque el micro
enchufe USB pequeño del cable USB a medida (logo SL hacia arriba) en el
manguito del conector USB (marcado con el logo SL) que está situado en
la base del cargador. El micro enchufe USB y el conector de la base del
cargador están marcados y contienen una función de bloqueo y encajan en
su sitio. Conecte el suministro de alimentación CA/USB a un enchufe de
pared o conecte el modelo que solo incluye cable a cualquier otra salida
USB con alimentación estándar.
CARGA
Nota: Cargue completamente las pilas antes de usarlas por primera vez.
Las pilas pueden almacenarse en el cargador continuamente, no existe
peligro de sobrecarga.
Para cargar la pila 18650, insértela en cualquiera de las posiciones de la
pila en el cargador. Coloque el extremo negativo de la pila en el extremo
del muelle del cargador (la polaridad también está marcada en la base de
la pila). El LED debajo del extremo negativo de la pila debería iluminarse
para indicar que la carga ha comenzado.
INDICADORES DE CARGA LED
Para asegurarse de que la pila se está cargando, el LED rojo del alojamiento
del cargador deberá encenderse.
• Cargando... el LED se ilumina de manera constante.
• Cargado... el LED se enciende y apaga brevemente cada segundo.
• Error... el LED parpadea rápidamente. Esto puede ser provocado porque
la temperatura está fuera del rango o por la tensión de entrada.
• Es normal que el estado del indicador cambie entre fijo y pulso a medida
que la pila alcanza su nivel máximo de carga.
El tiempo de carga es de aproximadamente 3,5 horas y media para una pila
o 6,5 horas y media para dos pilas cuando se utilizan los adaptadores de
CA Streamlight o la entrada de 12 V CA. Al cargar desde un PC u otra fuente
de alimentación USB limitada, el tiempo de carga puede aumentar debido
al suministro reducido disponible de la fuente de alimentación USB.
NOTA: Cuando cargue dos pilas al mismo tiempo, la ubicación de la
izquierda tiene prioridad y finalizará el proceso de carga en primer lugar.
IMPORTANTE: El rango máximo de temperatura de carga está entre -6,6
ºC Y 46,1 ºC (20 ºF y 115º F) siendo el rango de temperatura óptimo de 10 ºC
Y 30 ºC (50 ºF y 86 ºF). Un circuito de seguridad evita cargar fuera del rango
máximo y el LED de carga rojo parpadeará rápidamente. Cuando la
temperatura se encuentre dentro del intervalo aceptable, continuará la carga.
MONTAJE DEL CARGADOR
El cargador ha sido diseñado para descansar sobre una superficie. Se
proporcionan orificios de montaje para tornillos autorroscantes n.º 8 para
su montaje, si se desea.
• No deberá montar nunca el cargador contra una superficie sensible al
calor.
• Antes de perforar cualquier orificio de montaje, asegúrese de que haya
espacio para insertar y extraer las pilas.
• Se necesitan (no se incluyen) dos (2) tornillos autorroscantes n.º 8 para
la instalación del cargador. El tamaño de broca correcto para estos
tornillos en la plancha metálica es de 3 mm (1/8 de pulg.).

INSTALACIÓN EN VEHÍCULOS
Hay un cable de alimentación de 12 V CA (N/P 22051) equipado con un
enchufe para encender cigarrillos disponible para el montaje de un cargador
Streamlight en un vehículo. Es posible extraer el enchufe para encender
cigarrillos y es posible acoplar directamente los cables a una fuente de
alimentación para una instalación más permanente. (Debe usarse un
fusible de dos amperios en el borne positivo.) NOTA: El cable de entrada
USB debe desconectarse del cargador antes de intentar enchufar el cable
de alimentación de 12 V CA al cargador.
IMPORTANTE: Antes de realizar conexiones eléctricas en un vehículo,
tenga en cuenta que un cortocircuito en la batería del automóvil podría
provocar con facilidad un incendio. Realice todas las conexiones con
orejetas aisladas u otros conectores previstos para dicho uso. Asegúrese
de que su instalación esté protegida mediante fusible.
El cable con rayas es positivo y el cable sin marcar es negativo. Al conectar
el cargador a un bloque de fusibles, el cable de alimentación positivo con
rayas va en el conector que está inactivo cuando el fusible del vehículo no
está instalado. El cuerpo del cargador está aislado eléctricamente del
circuito de carga y permite realizar instalaciones a tierra positivas. El
cargador está protegido mediante polaridad y si se conecta con la polaridad
inversa simplemente no funcionará hasta estar conectado correctamente.
Streamlight recomienda conectar el cargador a una fuente de alimentación
sin conmutar para garantizar que las pilas estén siempre completamente
cargadas. Si el vehículo no va a conducirse durante varios días, habrá que
extraer las pilas del cargador para evitar la descarga de la batería del
vehículo. Cargar dos pilas con el cargador de pilas de botón 18650
consumirá aproximadamente 0,5 amperios durante un máximo de 6 horas
y media durante la carga. El cargador consumirá menos de 0,01 amperios
cuando esté en modo de mantenimiento cuando las pilas estén
completamente cargadas.
