Basic Safety Instructions

For safe handling of the appliance observe the following safety information:
■ Before use check the appliance for visible external damage. Do not put into
operation an appliance that is damaged or has been dropped.
■ If the appliance's mains power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the
manufacturer, the manufacturer's customer service department or by a qualifi ed
technician, so that risks can be prevented.
■ This appliance is not intended for use by individuals (including children) with
restricted physical, physiological or intellectual abilities or defi ciences in experience
and/or knowledge unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their
safety or receive from this person instruction in how the appliance is to be used.
■ Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
■ Repairs should only be carried out by authorised specialist companies or by the
Customer Service Department. Incompetent repairs can result in signifi cant risks
for the user. In addition, warranty claims become void.
■ Defective components may only be replaced with original replacement parts.
Only by using original replacement parts can it be assured that the safety
requirements are being complied with.
■ Protect the appliance against moisture and liquid penetration.
■ Always disconnect the power cable from the mains power socket with the plug,
never pull on the cable.
■ Do not use the appliance in the vicinity of open fl ames.
■ The appliance must not be placed immediately under or over a mains power socket.
■ In the event of malfunctions and during thunderstorms disconnect the plug from
the mains power socket.
■ The appliance must not be used in the immediate vicinity of a bath, a shower or
a swimming pool.
