Handling
• Operation is only permissible in dry indoor areas. The keyboard may not become
damp or wet. Of course, the same applies to an external plug-in power unit.
• Place the device on a level, firm and sufficiently large area. Do not place the devi-
ce on valuable furniture surfaces; chemical reactions could lead to discoloration
due to the rubber feet. Apart from this, pressure points (indentations) are also pos-
sible. Use a suitable underlay.
• When using a keyboard stand, make sure this has sufficient dimensions. Set up
the keyboard stand and the keyboard in such a manner that stability is ensured
and lay all the cables in such a manner that no-one can stumble over them.
• When setting up the keyboard, make sure that the cable is neither folded nor
squeezed.
• Avoid the following unfavourable ambient conditions at the installation location or
during transportation:
- strong or direct sunlight
- wetness or excessive humidity
- extreme cold or heat
- dust or combustible gases, vapours or solvents
- strong vibration
- strong magnetic fields such as those found in the vicinity of machinery
- loudspeakers
• Never connect the keyboard to external power unit or other devices immediately
after it has been taken from a cold room to a warm one. The condensation which
develops may destroy the keyboard and the external power unit under certain cir-
cumstances.
Allow the device to reach room temperature before switching it on. This may
take several hours.
• Ensure that the insulation of the entire product is neither damaged nor destroyed.
Never open it.
• Always check the product for damage every time it is used.
In case you notice any damage, do not operate the keyboard and bring it to
a specialist workshop.
• If the keyboard is not put into operation for a longer period, remove it from the
power supply, disconnect the external power unit from the mains voltage and pull
out the cable from the mains socket! Remove any possibly inserted
batteries/accumulators.
• Never insert pointed objects (e.g. ballpoint pens, pins or needles, paper clips
etc.) into the air slits or openings of the device. There is risk of a fatal elec-
tric shock or destruction of the device!
• Do not place objects or vessels with liquid (e.g. vases) on or alongside the
keyboard. Penetrating liquid destroys the keyboard besides posing a risk of
mortal electric shock.
Servicing and cleaning
Check the technical safety of the product regularly, e.g. damage to the housing (or the exter-
nal power unit which you use).
When it can be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible, the product must be put out
of service and precautions taken to ensure that it is not used unintentionally. Switch off the
keyboard, disconnect it from any external power unit, disconnect the external power unit from
the mains voltage. Remove any possibly inserted batteries.
It must be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible if
- the device shows signs of visible damage
- the device no longer operates and
- has been stored for long periods under unfavourable conditions or
- has been subjected to considerable stress in transit.
The safety instructions below must be noted before the device is cleaned or maintained:
Before cleaning, servicing or repair works, the device must be disconnected from all
sources of voltage. Switch off the keyboard and disconnect the external power unit.
Remove any possibly inserted batteries/accumulators.
None of the components inside the product are to be maintained by the user.
Live components may be exposed if the covering is opened or components are removed.
Capacitors in the device may still be charged, even if the device has been disconnec-
ted from all voltage sources.
Repair work must always be carried out by qualified experts familiar with the hazards
involved and with the relevant regulations.
Dust in the opening of the keys can be removed with the aid of a clean, soft brush or a vacu-
um cleaner.
The use of a dry, lint-free cloth is sufficient to clean the outside of the product. For more resi-
stant dirt, you can moisten the cloth slightly with lukewarm water.
Do not use any cleaning agents as these may discolour the plastic material. The let-
tering may also become damaged.
Before connecting the keyboard again (or insert batteries/connect it with an external
power unit), wait until the device is completely dry!
Disposal
a) General
Once the product becomes unusable, dispose of it in accordance with the relevant statutory
regulations.
b) Battery and accumulator disposal
You as end consumer are legally obliged (Regulation on Spent Batteries) to return all used
batteries and accumulators. Disposal in the household waste is prohibited!
Batteries / accumulators which contain hazardous substances are marked by the
symbols on the side. These symbols also indicate that it is prohibited to dispose of
these batteries in the household waste. The names for the decisive heavy metals are:
Cd= cadmium, Hg= mercury, Pb= lead (the name is indicated on the accumulator,
e.g. underneath the waste can symbols depicted on the left).
You can hand in your used batteries/accumulators at the official collection points of
your community at no cost, our outlets or everywhere where batteries/accumulators
are sold.
You thus fulfil your statutory obligations and make your contribution to the protection of the
environment.
