GND - Ground terminal
The ground lead from an analogue disc player is connec-
ted here in order to avoid hum.
TUNER - input sockets
Input sockets for connecting high-level signal sources
such as tuner.
AUX 2 / phono input socket
Universal pre-amplifier input
This input can be upgraded to form an input for an
analogue turntable by fitting a Phono MM or Phono MC
module (optional accessories).
With MM phono module:
Input socket for disc players with moving magnet (MM)
cartridge systems. Input capacitance (100 pF ... 500 pF)
and input sensitivity (1 mV ... 5 mV) variable by means of
switches. Simply set the values closest to those stated by
the cartridge manufacturer.
With MC phono module:
Input socket for disc players with moving coil (MC)
cartridge systems. Input impedance (5 Ω ... 650 Ω) and
input sensitivity (50 uV ... 1000 uV) variable by means of
switches. Simply set the values closest to those stated by
the cartridge manufacturer.
TAPE 1
Input and output sockets for connecting devices which
can record and play back (recorders).
CD - input sockets
Input sockets for connecting a CD player.
TAPE 2
Input and output sockets for connecting a second device
with recording and playback facilities (recorder).
This input features an input buffer amplifier, making it
suitable for connecting source devices with a high output
impedance (> 1 kΩ). This is often the case with video
recorders, for example.
TV - input sockets
Input sockets for connecting a television set.
This input features an input buffer amplifier, making it
suitable for connecting source devices with a high output
impedance (> 1 kΩ).
AUX 1 - input sockets
General-purpose pre-amplifier inputs with an input sensi-
tivity of 250 mV / 20 kΩ.
PRE - pre-amplifier output
Asymmetrical pre-amplifier output
PRE 2
(P 1260 R only)
The optional XLR output PRE 2 is intended for active
speakers or monoblocks set up close to the speakers.
Very long signal leads can be connected to this output
with no loss of sound quality.
Note:
The output level of the XLR output is +6 dBV, and is set
correctly for  power amplifiers and active speakers
with XLR inputs. If the connected device requires a lower
level, this can be reduced by 6 dB or 12 dB by means of
an internal switch on the XLR module. Please contact
your specialist dealer if you require this change.
 SURROUND INTERFACE (TASI)
This interface, normalised by , enables you to loop a
 surround decoder.
    A and     B (loudspeaker terminals)
(only PA 1260 R)
Two pairs of loudspeakers can be connected to the ampli-
fier (SPEAKER     A and SPEAKER     B). The impedance
of each speaker must not be lower than 4 Ω (DIN rating).
The output stages are designed to cope with a minimum
load of 2 Ω, but continuous operation at very high volume
produces high currents in the power output stages which
can lead to overheating. This in turn trips the protective
circuit which switches the amplifier off automatically.
Make sure that the terminals are firmly screwed down,
and that no short-circuits are possible as a result of pro-
jecting cable ends or errant wire strands.
Note:
If the loudspeakers are to be used in countries outside
the EU the red/black stoppers can be removed from the
loudspeaker terminals. The speakers can then be
connected using banana plugs.
The stoppers are simply a push-fit in the terminals, and
can be prised out from the rear using a suitable tool such
as a knife blade.
