1 - GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
The TRIFONIC system has been designed to cover a wide range of
general applications in musical reproduction. It is based on the exacting
requirements of professional P.A. systems, including: Active Bi-
amplification, Signal Processing, Protection and Safety Systems and
different configurations depending on each particular installation.
- Bi-amplification:The TP 1502 incorporates a stereo amplifier for the
middle-high range (satellites), with its own independent volume control,
as well as a second Mono amplifier unit for low frequencies (Subwoofer).
- An active filter splits the frequency range above 125 Hz.
- The signal is then independently processed and optimised for each
channel of the recommended Speaker System.
- Fitted with Protection Systems that guarantee normal operation within
design limits and even under occasional abnormal situations: Short-
circuit, DC output, Temperature (with gradual compensation by atte-
nuation), Automatic rearming Breaker for protection against excesspower
consumption, Soft-start delayed connection, as well as an Anti-clip
Limiter to protect the speaker system from Distortion caused by
clipping.
- Its possible configurations include connection to basic Equipment
with 2 or 4 conventional full-range speaker systems, including all the
above advantages as well as the possibility of incorporating a Subwoofer
unit, a must for any musical performance.
- In addition, the exceptional power performance of a compact 3 Rack
unit capable of delivering more than 600W per channel with a minimum
impedance load of 4 Ohm.
In order to obtain the maximum efficiency, recommended loudspeaker
systems should fulfil the following requirements:
- Satellites: Minimum handling power capacity 150W/8 Ohm. It enables
to connect 2 or 3 units per
loudspeaker systems enable to install up to 4 units per channel.
- Sub-woofer: Minimum handling power capacity 500 W/8 Ohm. A
maximum of two units could be installed. If the system is a double
woofer (4 Ohm) it is recommended to install one unit.
2 - CONTROLS (Front panel)
The TP 1502 unit is fitted with status and general operation controls.
Controls:
- ILLUMINATED POWER. ON/OFF switch. Illuminated. Including Soft-
start.
- LEFT & RIGHT. Volume control (Gain) for the middle-high stereo
amplifier (Satellites).
- SUBWOOFER. Volume control (Gain) for the bass amplifier.
Indicators:
- OUTPUT (green): Output signal led.
- LIMITER (red): Maximum power led and activation of the Anti-clip
Limiter Circuit. This led also indicates Protection (LED lit constantly).

To obtain maximum performance and guaranteed operation, please
read this Instruction Manual carefully before making any connection
or putting the apparatus into operation. Ask your supplier if you require
any further information not included in this Manual.

3 - CONNECTIONS (Rear panel)
Signal inputs:
Signal inputs are required a XLR-3 connector. They are balanced using
Pin 2 (XLR) as live (+).
Very important: If balanced signal is not available, pins 1 and 3 should
be bridged. None of the pins should be left unconnected.
Speakers:
Loudspeakers output is through NL4 Speakon connector. 4 mm section
multi -wire conductor are most recommended, being the polarity as
follows: Pin 1 + for the + loudspeakerís terminal and Pin-1 for the -
loudspeakerís terminal. Pins 2+ and 2- remain free. Outputs LEFT &
RIGHT are available to connect the satellites or the Mid-high units with
a frequency response above 100Hz.
The output for the SUBWOOFER has the same type of connector and
connection polarity.
Power supply:
The power supply connection is standard cable with a Schukko plug.
Ventilation:
The apparatus is cooled by forced ventilation. The fan is located at
the rear air inlet and the outlet is through a grill in the front panel. Do
not block the air intakes and outlets. The air flow is adjusted according
to the power level (consumption) and/or temperature whenever it
exceeds acceptable limits.
4 - OPERATION
Installation:
The TP 1502 may be installed in a standard 19" Rack, occupying 3
positions if used for mobile installations, or on any shelf or cabinet if
the installation is fixed. In both cases make sure that the air flow is not
blocked in any way.
Do not install in closed cabinets without good air circulation.
Connection of pre-components: For sound sources connection, a
professional Mixer is strongly recomended. The outputs of this mixer
can be connected to the TP 1502 unit using an XLR connectors. It is
advisable to use the Balanced Mode (+, -, earth) for best performance.
The connection cable should be twin conductor and shielded. If this
is not available, bridge pins 1 and 3 to earth in the XLR connector,
leaving pin 2 as +.
Speaker connections: Speakers of either 4, 8 or 16 Ohm may be
used provided the minimum total impedance of the amplifier (4 Ohm
per channel) is maintained. Connect speakers in parallel for best results.
Avoid combinations in series or series/parallel. This will not cause any
damage to the apparatus but can be detrimental to the general quality
of the system. Full-Range en paralelo.
Middle-High frequency channel (Satellites): Each channel (Left or
Right) may be connected to:
- 1 Speaker 4 Ohm with a minimum power capacity of 300 W Full-
range or,
- 1 or 2 Speakers 8 Ohm with a minimum power capacity of 150 W
Full-range in parallel or,
- 3 or 4 Speakers 16 Ohm with a minimum power capacity of 100 W
Full-range in parallel.
T h e S u b w o o f e r b a s s c h a n n e l m a y b e c o n n e c t e d t o :
- 1 or 2 Speakers 8 Ohm with a minimum power capacity of 300 W in
parallel or,
- 1 Speaker 4 Ohm with a minimum power capacity of 600 W (e.g. 2
x 15" or 2 x 18").
