▶ Do not subject the battery to hard mechanical impacts and do not
throw the battery.
▶ Do not disassemble, squash or incinerate batteries and do not subject
them to temperatures over 80°C. This presents a risk of fire, explosion or
injury through contact with caustic substances.
▶ If the battery is too hot to touch it may be defective. Place the battery
in a non-flammable location, well away from flammable materials,
where it can be kept under observation and allowed to cool down.
Contact Hilti Service after the battery has cooled down.
▶ If the battery is defective, liquid may escape from it and contaminate
adjoining objects. Check the items affected. Clean these items or
replace them if necessary.
▶ Do not expose the battery to rain or wet conditions.
▶ Avoid high air humidity. Ingress of moisture may cause a short circuit,
resulting in burning injuries or fire.
▶ Observe the special guidelines applicable to the transport, storage
and use of Li-ion batteries.
2.2.3 Additional safety information about Li-ion batteries in electric
tools and garden appliances
Possible hazards
Li-ion batteries have a gas-tight seal and are not harmful so long as they are
used and handled in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications and
instructions.
In general, contact with leaking battery substances can present a risk to
personal health and the environment. For this reason, in the event of
coming into contact with batteries with a conspicuous appearance (leaking
substances, deformation, discoloration, dents or the like), appropriate body
and breathing protection is required. Li-ion batteries can, for example, react
very severely in combination with fire. This can result in battery components
being ejected with considerable force.
Handling and operating safety
Li-ion batteries are always to be handled in accordance with the manufac-
turer's specifications and instructions. This applies, in particular, with regard
to compliance with mechanical and thermal load limits.
Even if assumed to be discharged, Li-ion batteries, like other batteries, may
still present a source of danger as they are capable of supplying a very high
short-circuit current.
First-aid measures
Skin or eye contact with leaking substances (electrolyte):
In the event of eye or skin contact with such substances, rinse the affected
areas thoroughly with water for at least 15 minutes. In the event of eye
contact, in addition to rinsing thoroughly with water it is essential that a
doctor is consulted.
