Installation
Refer to Figure 1 and follow these steps to install the
QuickScan 6000/QuickScan 6000 Plus scanner:
1.
If necessary, turn the host power off (consult the
manual for your host terminal), then connect the
Interface (I/F) cable to the scanner.
2.
Connect the I/F cable to the proper port on the Host
terminal.
3.
Connect the power cord at the I/F connector. Power
Off the Terminal (P.O.T.) units skip this step.
4.
Connect the AC/DC adapter at the wall outlet.
(P.O.T. units skip this step.)
5.
Verify operation--point at a flat surface & pull the
trigger. A red targeting beam should be visible.
Scan a sample label and confirm that the scanner
reads the label by beeping and/or sending the data
to the host terminal.

schalten Sie
den Strom seitens des Rechners ab (im Handbuch
Ihres Rechners/Terminals finden Sie die
entsprechenden Anleitungen) und verbinden Sie
dann das Interface (I/F) Kabel mit dem Scanner.
2.
Schließen Sie das Interface Kable (I/F) an der
entsprechenden Buchse am übergeordneten Rechner
(Terminal) an.
3.
Schließen Sie das Netzkabel an den I/F
Steckverbinder an. Haben Sie einen Scanner mit
P.O.T.-Option, überspringen Sie diesen Schritt.
4.
Schließen Sie den Netz-Adapter an die
nächstgelegene Steckdose an. (Scanner mit P.O.T.-
Option überspringen diesen Schritt.)
5.
Überprüfen Sie die Funktionstüchtigkeit - richten Sie
den Scanner auf eine gerade Oberfläche und lösen
Sie einen Scan aus. Ein roter Zielstrahl wird jetzt
sichtbar. Scannen Sie ein Musterlabel. Hat der
Scanner gelesen, ertönt ein Audiosignal oder die
Daten werden an das Terminal übertragen.
How to Scan
Reference Figure 2 and follow these tips to get the best
scanning results:
1.
The scanner must be pointed at a slight angle to the
barcode. (Do not hold the scanner perpendicular to the
barcode.)
2.
The laser beam must cross the entire label. (The
scanner cannot correctly read a barcode if the entire
label is not scanned.)

Abtastverfahren
Um eine optimale Leseleistung beim Scannen zu erhalten,
folgen Sie den Schritten gemäß Abbildung 2:
1.
Der Scanner sollte in einem leichten Winkel zum
Barcode gehalten werden. (Halten Sie den Scanner nicht
senkrecht zum Barcode.)
2.
Der Laserstrahl muß über das gesamte Label reichen.
(Der Scanner kann nicht korrekt lesen, wenn er nicht
den gesamten Barcode umfaßt.)
Troubleshooting
If the scanner is not operating properly, the following checks
should be performed: Reference Figures 3 and 4.
1.
Since the scanner can receive its power from the host
computer (Power Off the Terminal—P.O.T.) or an
external power supply, it will not operate without the
system power on or if the external power supply has
failed.
2.
If an external power supply is used, exchange the power
supply with a known good power supply.
If the scanner receives power from the host (P.O.T.),
connect the scanner to a known good host.
3.
Verify that the interface cable is securely attached to the
host. Consult your technical support manager or refer to
your host system manual to verify the proper connection
for the scanner.
4.
Verify that the interface cable is securely attached to the
scanner handle.
5.
Check that the labels are of sufficient quality to be
recognized by the scanner. Wrinkled, smudged, or
torn labels can cause the scanner to not read at all. If
you suspect that label quality is a problem, scan a
known good label to check the scanner's read operation.
6.
Ensure that the scanner's interface type is compatible
with the host terminal by consulting your POS system
manual and/or the QuickScan 6000/QuickScan 6000
Plus Programming Guide (P/N R44-1540).

Fehlersuche/Hinweise
Arbeitet der Scanner nicht fehlerfrei, sollten folgende Fehlerquellen
überprüft werden (siehe Abbildung 3 und 4):
1.
Da der Scanner entweder über ein externes Netzgerät
oder bei der P.O.T.-Version über das Terminal seine
Stromversorgung erhält, fällt auch der Scanner aus,
sobald die Stromversorgung an einem dieser Geräte
unterbrochen ist.
2.
Hat Ihr Scanner ein externes Netzgerät, tauschen Sie
dieses gegen ein Netzgerät aus, dessen
Funktionstüchtigkeit sicher ist.
Wird Ihr Scanner (P.O.T.-Version) über das Terminal
versorgt, schließen Sie den Scanner an ein
funktionstüchtiges Terminal an.
3.
Überprüfen Sie, daß das Interface Kabel gut und richtig
am Terminal befestigt ist. Unterstützung und weitere
Information über die korrekte Verbindung zwischen
Scanner und Terminal erhalten Sie von Ihrem
hausinternen Techniker oder im Handbuch des
Terminals.
4.
Überprüfen Sie, daß das Interface Kabel gut am Scanner
befestigt ist.
5.
Stellen Sie sicher, daß die Barcode Labels in ausreichend
guter Qualität vorliegen. Geknickte, verschmutzte oder
zerissene Label können vom Scanner nicht in jedem Fall
korrekt gelesen werden. Wenn Sie die Fehlerquelle in
der Qualität des Barcode-Labels vermuten, scannen Sie
ein qualitätsmäßig einwandfreies Label zur
Überprüfung der Funktionstüchtigkeit des Scanners.
6.
Stellen Sie sicher, daß das Interface mit dem Terminal
kompatibel ist. Informationen hierzu erhalten Sie im
QuickScan 6000/QuickScan 6000 Plus
Programmierhandbuch (P/N R44-1540).
Sollte Ihr Scanner nach Überprüfung dieser Punkte nicht
fehlerlos arbeiten, setzen Sie sich mit dem PSC Kundendienst
