Start-Up and Operation

Using the Soldering Attachment

Before proceeding, attach the soldering attachment (9) to the torch. Push the
gas volume control regulator (6) lightly towards "+"direction. Ignite the torch,
activate the locking mechanism (3) and wait some minutes, until the flame has
stabilised.
Look at the flag window (10) into the soldering attachment. Until you recognize
a red colouring of the catalyst, push the flame adjustment lever (2) forward and
keep it pressed for 3 sec. The flame goes out and the catalyst continues to
glow. Release the flame adjustment lever (2) and the lever turns back to the
rest position.
Risk of burns: After long operation time the flame adjustment lever (2) be-
comes very hot. Do not touch it.
The soldering tip must be tinned before using. When the melting temperature
is reached put some solder on the top of the soldering tip and allows it to
spread to an evenly fine coating. The solder must enclose the whole cone
point.
Now the soldering tip has the right temperature to start with soft-soldering. The
exact temperature is reached, if a red glow is inside the soldering attachment.
The flame must not be visible.
Notice: It is very important to press the flame adjustment lever (2) forward,
during processing and for 3 sec. after firing. If not, the tip will be burned by the
excessive temperature. Soldering is not possible anymore, as soldering tem-
perature cannot be reached.
According to the soldering requirements, adjust the temperature of the solder-
ing tip with the gas volume control regulator (6). By increasing the tempera-
ture, wait 2 or 3 minutes before restart soldering.
Just open the gas volume control regulator (6) enough to ensure good solder-
ing. Too much gas or working with soldering tip and flame (flame adjustment
lever (2) not activated) will just waste gas and the soldering tip will be over-
heated unnecessarily. When soldering tip was overheated a visible blacking
occurs and the temperature is insufficient for soldering. A brownish colour of
the soldering tip is ok and not a defect.
If the flame goes out during work (e.g. the gas volume was cut back too much)
only the hiss of gas will be audible. Immediately press the locking mechanism
for continuous burning (3) forwards to block up gas supply.
Push the gas volume control regulator (6) slightly into direction „+" in order to
increase gas volume and ignite the flame again.
